Google Cloud has introduced the Config Management Dashboard, which allows an administrator or platform operator to have real-time insight into configuration synchronization and failures across multiple Kubernetes clusters.

This will help simplify critical day-to-day tasks, such as reviewing resources and configuration progress to ensure behavior is consistent across multiple clusters, and quickly identifying issues and taking appropriate action.

The new Configuration Dashboard not only helps to quickly identify configurations and differences between desired and actual state, but also to track clusters that are running Config Sync.

Key components

Dashboard: focuses on the overall state of all configurations and resources in one or more clusters. The Dashboard also provides a quick overview of the major issues within a specific cluster or package.

Packages: are Git repositories, Helm diagrams, and OCI registries that contain cluster configurations and resources that are synchronized across clusters. You can view synchronized resources and configurations by package or cluster. You can also filter the view by synchronization status, reconciliation status, location, and clusters.

General Operations
The new Configuration Dashboard is designed with common operations in mind that previously could only be performed via the CLI. Now users can:

Easily install Config Sync on one or more clusters from the dashboard and monitor the installation status on the Settings tab.

Quickly check the synchronization status and reconcile the status of a specific configuration in a package across one or many clusters from the Packages tab using quick filters.

Users can filter issues and identify errors on any resource in clusters by viewing error messages directly from the Packages tab.

Google plans to add more features to the configuration dashboard, such as deployment management, package deployment, and notifications, to make the dashboard easy to use.
