This tool aims to address the challenges associated with generative artificial intelligence that is powered by large language models (LLMs), or model-based. While such AI models offer a variety of business use cases, they also bring risks and complexities, such as using untested training data and generating results that are not explainable, IBM explained.

Watsonx.governance is designed to help organizations manage these risks, increase transparency and prepare for compliance with future regulations targeting AI.

“Company boards and CEOs are looking to reap the rewards from today’s more powerful AI models, but the risks due to a lack of transparency and inability to govern these models have been holding them back,” said Kareem Yusuf, Ph.D, senior vice president of product management and growth at IBM Software.

“Watsonx.governance is a one-stop-shop for businesses that are struggling to deploy and manage both LLM and ML models, giving businesses the tools, they need to automate AI governance processes, monitor their models, and take corrective action, all with increased visibility. Its ability to translate regulations into enforceable policies will only become more essential for enterprises as new AI regulation takes hold worldwide”, he added.

Although the current occasion for a public statement is in a positive direction, a few months before, the Amazon employee shared his disappointment with the company’s decision and its layoff.

Will the lay off trend turn positive?
Amazon laid off 500 of its employees in India recently. The layoffs affected various sectors of the company, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), human resources (HR) and support functions.We remind you that in March Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the layoff of 9,000 employees worldwide, and in January the company also made layoffs that affected 18,000 employees worldwide.

Autoclass automatically moves objects into the bucket based on each object’s access pattern, supporting the storage classes standard, nearline, coldline, and archive. The new service manages all new objects, starting in standard storage and moving them to increasingly cold storage classes after 30, 90, and 365 days if they are not accessible.

In exchange for a management fee, the service helps achieve price predictability by eliminating the additional retrieval fees associated with colder storage classes, and is recommended if the data in the bucket has varying access frequencies or if data access patterns are unknown or unpredictable. However, it is not recommended if the data meets the use cases of a particular storage class, such as backups.

Autoclass buckets are charged a monthly management fee of $0.0025 for every 1,000 objects stored, with no charges for retrieval access to an object and early deletion.

Currently, the Autoclass feature must be enabled during bucket creation using the CLI, API or Cloud Console. Support for existing buckets is expected later in 2023. When the feature is disabled, all objects in the bucket remain in their current storage class.

A while ago, we presented you Apple’s Personal User Safety Guide and showed you what it does offer.

The AirTag devices are meant to work with Apple’s “Find My” network in order to help you find your lost items. However, they got misused as people got tracked with the AirTags, finding them in their cars or personal bags.

Apple did not remain indifferent to the situation. The company said that from now on every user who is setting up their AirTags for the first time will receive a message warning that tracking people using the devices is against the law.  In a blog post, Apple stated:

“AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products.”

At that point users only receive alerts for “unwanted tracks” if there is an AirTag moving with them. The company stated that this will change and people will be alerted earlier if they got unwanted devices traveling with them.

Users of iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 will be capable of seeing the distance between them and the unknown AirTag.

The news was announced on Minecraft’s official website in a blog post. It was also said that this action was taken in order to ensure player’s safety and security.

However, there are some advantages which are meant to be beneficial for users.

Single account for all Microsoft games, two-factor authentication and improved safety are just some of the options which are supposed to make players’ experience much more enjoyable.

Players don’t have to worry about their data and game progress because all of this will be retained.

In October 2020 Minecraft announced its plans and explained all the changes that are about to become a reality. It has also said that everyone who changes their account from Mojang to Minecraft will receive a cape as a special reward.

In a post on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg stated:

“Meta has developed what we believe is the world’s fastest AI supercomputer. We’re calling it RSC for AI Research SuperCluster.”

However, companies such as Microsoft and Nvidia have already announced their AI supercomputers.

In a statement which announced the news, the Meta engineers Kevin Lee and Shubho Sengupta said:

“RSC will help Meta’s AI researchers build new and better AI models that can learn from trillions of examples; work across hundreds of different languages; seamlessly analyze text, images, and video together; develop new augmented reality tools; and much more.”

They also hope that RSC will help them build entirely new AI systems that can, for example, power real-time voice translations to large groups of people, each speaking a different language, so they can seamlessly collaborate on a research project or play an AR game together.

The work on RCS began about a year and a half ago when Meta’s engineers designed the machine’s various systems such as cooling, power, networking, etc. The first half of it is already done and it is running and consists of 760 Nvidia GGX A100 systems containing 6,080 connected GPUs.

The work will be done by the end of this year. In a blog post, Meta’s engineers say that through 2022 they will be working on increasing the number of GPUs from 6,080 to 16,000 which is supposed to make the AI training performance better.
