The goal is to elevate efficiency for developers.

Uno Platform serves as a foundation for constructing multi-platform .NET applications, enabling developers to streamline their workflow by utilizing a single codebase across diverse platforms.

Support for C#Markup has been added in the 5.0 release. According to the project’s maintainers, C# Markup has been desired by developers because it allows them to build a complete application using only this language.

“A massive bit of feedback from the community has been the need to learn multiple languages to build an Uno Platform application,” the Uno Platform Team explained in a blog post.

C# Markup demonstrates its versatility by offering support for a wide array of controls, including standard WinUI, Uno.Toolkit, and Uno.Extensions controls. Alternatively, developers can harness the C# Markup support generator to seamlessly integrate third-party controls. In addition, C# Markup is enriched with an array of powerful features such as data binding, styles, resources, templates, and visual states.

One of its standout advantages is the ability to create application user interfaces declaratively, establishing a clear demarcation between the UI and the underlying business logic.

Moreover, the Uno Platform Team has introduced addition: the Figma to C# Markup plugin, drawing inspiration from the Figma-to-XAML plugin. This innovative tool promises to further streamline the design and development process.

The team also created a course for learning about Hot Reload. The hands-on workshop guides developers through building a simple calculator that takes advantage of this feature. It also created another workshop that teaches how to build an app for streaming YouTube videos that can be deployed across multiple platforms, which also highlights the benefits of MVUX.

Other improvements in Uno Platform 5.0 include MP4 camera capture for iOS, improved composition support for Skia targets, improved DPI scaling and theming support for GTK, and more.

Four ML Trends to Adapt to in the Future https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/14/four-ml-trends-to-adapt-to-in-the-future/ Tue, 14 Mar 2023 07:42:51 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=102999 ...]]> Over the next six years, the global ML market size is expected to grow from $21.17 billion in 2022 to $209.91 billion in 2029. Expecting this growth means that in 2023, organizations will see a paradigm shift in how they prioritize ML investments, Spiceworks reports.

Most companies say they are using six different tools to build models and learn, with executives focusing more on downstream ML capabilities such as observability and function management. The shift from building complex, company-wide ML models to smaller, task-focused models increases their portability and reduces barriers to market. And today we’ve chosen to introduce you to the top four ML trends that Spiceworks presents.

Generative AI
Generative AI can create new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It uses deep neural networks with billions of parameters to enable complex pattern recognition.

Unsupervised or semi-supervised learning algorithms are making huge strides in accelerating research and development (R&D) cycles in the medical and financial forecasting fields.

The sector will be increasingly regulated. The EU’s AI law, the US Privacy and Data Protection Act and the Open Source Software Assurance Act are all breaking the mould to promote the safety and security of modern technological lifestyles. Whether your company has entered the world of ML or not, enterprises should be aware of these acts and plan strategies to strengthen fraud detection to mitigate risks against the latest ML tools.

Computer vision
Computer vision (CV) accounts for the largest share of the AI and ML market. It is a field of AI that can capture, process and analyze real-world images, enabling the extraction of meaningful, contextual information.

One of the sectors where CV is making an impact is the automotive industry. It can detect defects in the bodywork of cars and underpin the development of applications such as self-driving cars. High-resolution cameras with background CV systems identify surrounding objects, people and movements that automatically trigger the vehicle’s response.

Increasingly, it will help maintenance service providers perform efficient and thorough inspections by using cameras to identify dents and mechanical parts that are out of place. Using CV, engineers can process the images and identify discrepancies within seconds.

Cross-industry AI Synergy
ML will be less concerned with company-specific models and more with data-driven models that can be used across sectors.

Doctors and scientists are experimenting with ML and CV technologies, training them to recognize and classify rare genetic skin conditions. Specialists walk the aisles, in some cases hourly, to count merchandise and ensure product availability. But what if they put CV apps on the shelves to help them monitor real-time inventory?

As companies begin to share the investment cost of tools that can analyze visual patterns and detect everything from rare diseases to product movement, more experimentation and affordable models can be created.

Late adopters are increasingly looking at use cases from more mature ML industries, such as automotive and healthcare, and adapting them to support their business needs.

ML Data Scientist Upskilling vs. Low-code solutions

Codeless and low-code (LCNC) platforms allow users with or without programming language knowledge to manage and build ML tools through intuitive interfaces such as point-and-click and drop-down menus.

ML use cases are expanding rapidly as developers begin to reinvent workflows based on what the technology can provide. AI people can re-engineer systems by pre-programming them to proactively deliver alerts and red flags to users when certain triggers are reached.

Nonetheless, LCNC tools are fundamentally limited in the scope of customization by design. Highly skilled software engineers will be needed to build, monitor, and scale these platforms. The latter needs are likely to lead to a demand for distinct new positions, such as human-computer interaction managers.

Hightouch Extends Cloud Data Warehouse Capabilities to Marketing Teams https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/02/28/hightouch-extends-cloud-data-warehouse-capabilities-to-marketing-teams/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 12:56:42 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=102301 ...]]> Hightouch today announced the release of Customer Studio, a set of purpose-built, marketer-centric features that allow users to explore, manage and activate customer data directly from cloud data stores to over 140 marketing and business applications.

Previously, valuable customer data was stored in data warehouses in the cloud, but it was only accessible to technical users who could model and query that data using SQL.

“Customer Studio gives our marketing teams the tools they need to activate customer data, enabling them to personalize marketing campaigns, optimize ad performance, and drive experimentation across our digital properties,”

said Ben Tengelson, VP of Data Science at IntelyCare.

With Customer Studio, any user – regardless of their technical skills – can explore and take action on customer data. That’s why modern growth and marketing teams, Ramp and the NBA rely on Customer Studio to create downstream audiences and implement data-driven marketing strategies quickly and effectively.

Unlike traditional Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) that only capture a subset of customer data and require it to be stored in yet another data silo, Customer Studio enables users to activate all their data directly from cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, and Redshift. This powerful new architecture, coined the “Composable CDP,” rapidly accelerates time to value, offers enhanced data security, and brings data and marketing teams closer than ever before.

Venture Capital for European Ecosystems Reduced to €90 Million https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/20/venture-capital-for-european-ecosystems-reduced-to-e90-million/ Fri, 20 Jan 2023 08:10:37 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=98834 ...]]> Pitchbook’s annual dataset shows that venture capital for European ecosystems was slightly lower last year, down to €91.6m from a record €108.9m in calendar year 2021, tech.eu reports.

Overall, 65.6% of the total deal value came from late-stage venture capital funding rounds and “venture growth” rounds (the latter is a new pitchbook classification introduced to capture mid- and later-stage activity). But this is a small increase from 64.8% in 2021.

The value of foreclosures reached the third highest level on record (€38.3 million) despite the worsening economic conditions and lower valuations, but the more difficult conditions are expected to continue this year. Unfortunately, exit values have fallen dramatically compared to last year (€137.7m) and according to Pitchbook 63 public IPOs have raised just €13.4bn. This trend is likely to continue into 2023, making the prospect of a corporate takeover a more enticing choice.

Facebook sued for collecting Facial-Recognition Data without Permission https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/02/16/facebook-sued-for-collecting-facial-recognition-data-without-permission/ Wed, 16 Feb 2022 10:52:33 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=81181 ...]]> Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General, has filed a lawsuit against Meta. The reason is the company’s facial-recognition system which collects biometric data on users – an action which is against Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act law.

In November last year, Meta announced that it is planning shutting down the facial recognition system. Templates for more than 1 billion users were supposed to be deleted.

Facebook is accused of not gaining users’ permission to collect their biometric data and not demolishing that information in a reasonable period of time. It is also said that the company collects biometric data even to people who are not Facebook users via its facial identifier.

According to the suit, the state can enforce a civil penalty for up to $25,000 per violation of Texas’ Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act. The state also has agreed that the company is guilty of violating the law and asked for an additional $10,000 civil penalty for each violation of that law. Texas demands that Facebook put Texans under a risk of having their personal information stolen. The suit said:

“Unlike other identifiers, such as Social Security numbers, which can be changed when stolen or misappropriated, biometric identifiers are permanent.”

When asked for a comment, Meta did not immediately respond.

Quantum Chemistry AI Model DM21 Found by DeepMind https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/02/16/quantum-chemistry-ai-model-dm21-found-by-deepmind/ Wed, 16 Feb 2022 09:51:35 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=81172 ...]]> Researchers at Google subsidiary DeepMind have open-sourced DM21, a neural network model for mapping electron density to chemical interaction energy, a key component of quantum mechanical simulation. DM21 is also available as an extension to the PySCF simulation framework, according to InfoQ. In a blog post, the DeepMind team shared:

“By expressing the functional as a neural network and incorporating these exact properties into the training data, we learn functionals free from important systematic errors — resulting in a better description of a broad class of chemical reactions.”

The team specifically addresses two long-standing problems with traditional functionals. That are the delocalization error and the spin symmetry breaking.

The company has used a neural network to represent the functional and tailoring its training dataset. The idea is to capture the fractional electron behavior expected for the exact functional. They have also found that they could solve the problems of delocalization and spin symmetry-breaking.

The function also showed itself to be accurate on broad, large-scale benchmarks. That is suggesting that this data-driven approach can capture aspects of the exact functional that have thus far been elusive, according to publication in DeepMind’s blog.
