The contract between the tech companies is that Intel will make custom chips for computers designed by Microsoft and for Microsoft, The Verge reports.

The partnership between Intel and Microsoft was announced during the Intel Foundry event. Intel estimates the value of the deal at over $15 billion dollar.

There is no information from the two corporations on exactly what the chips will be used for. Microsoft will use them for internal designs in both processors and AI smoke detectors, writes Bloomberg.

“We are in the midst of a very exciting platform shift that will fundamentally transform productivity for every individual organization and the entire industry,” stated Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in the official press release.

The chips will use Intel’s 18A process, which has been an indispensable part of the company since the return of Intel CEO – Pat Gelsinger.

The corporation believes that through the production of chips, they will once again rank among the leaders in the technology industry. In this venture, Microsoft will be their first major customer as well as a partner.

Producing designs for other companies is a strategy that has worked well for Intel’s competitor Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). It has created profitable partnerships with corporations such as: Apple, Qualcomm and AMD.

Pat Gelsinger announced that the foundry model for microelectronics manufacturing is a big part of Intel’s strategy. The new plans to manufacture chips using the foundry business model come at a time when technology companies are trying to make their own chips but are facing many challenges.

Intel Corporation has postponed the opening of a $20 billion chip plant to 2026. The original plans were for it to be opened in 2025. As the reason for the cancellation of the opening of the plant, Intel points to insufficient demand in the chip market and the delay in funding from the state.

The new features will be available the following models: Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, as well as the Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9+ and Tab S9. AI features were first introduced in the Galaxy S24 series. Soon even more users will be able to use them.

Every company in the technology industry is trying to introduce and develop its AI-based features. That’s why Samsung strives to make its functions more and more accessible to users.

How will Samsung’s new features make it easier for users?

Users will use Google’s “Circle to Search” feature, being able to search for information from any corner of the phone’s screen using gestures such as circling, highlighting, scribbling or tаpping.

With “Live Translate”, users will have the option to receive voice or text translations during phone calls. In addition, they will have the “Interpreter” feature at their disposal, which provides text-to-text translations during live conversations.

“Chat Assist” will allow users to change the tone of their voice messages. Also, Samsung Keyboard can translate texts in 13 languages.
Additionally, “Note Assist” will create summaries or translate various notes to users. “Browsing Assist” will summarize news or news articles for them.

New image editing features will also be added. Using “Generative Edit” users will have the ability to resize, reposition or realign different objects in their photos.

Bonus features will be “Edit Suggestion”, which will serve to improve the quality of photos, and “Instant Slow-Mo” which will allow users to create additional frames in slow-motion videos and capture the exact moments.

In summary, Samsung will provide a variety of AI features that will facilitate and assist users’ daily lives. By striving to make these features widely available, the company will try to stand out from its competitors.

Tesla on Friday announced the opening of its showroom in Urumqi, the Xinjiang capital, and said on its Chinese social media account, “Let’s start Xinjiang’s all-electric journey!”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations on Monday called on Tesla and its chairman, Elon Musk, to close the showroom and “cease what amounts to economic support for genocide.” In a statement, the group’s communications director, Ibrahim Hooper said:

“No American corporation should be doing business in a region that is the focal point of a campaign of genocide targeting a religious and ethnic minority.”

Some 1 million Uyghurs and members of other mostly Muslim minorities have been confined in detention camps in Xinjiang, activists and foreign governments say.  The accusations of abuse are rejected by Chinese officials. They say the camps are for job training and to combat extremis.
