These enhancements, introduced at the CES technology event, allow GeForce RTX GPU owners to generate images in real time, thereby saving significant time in video production. The improvements to these models also aid in more efficient and streamlined workflows.

Each year, the CES event gathers the world’s most influential tech giants to showcase their most innovative and advanced technologies.

The improvements Ayesha Asif writes about allow GeForce RTX GPU owners to generate images in real time and save the time it takes them to generate videos. Improvements to the models also help improve and facilitate workflows.

Features of the Stable Diffusion models presented at CES

SDXL Turbo

The new distillation technology built into the SDXL Turbo that allows image generation in just one step helps to achieve the most advanced results possible.

Up to four images per second

NVIDIA hardware accelerated by Tensor Cores and TensorRT can create up to four images per second while enabling access to SDXL’s real-time image generation for the first time ever.

LCM-LoRA

Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) is a learning technology for fine-tuning stable diffusion models. Combined with the Latent Coherence Model (LCM), the LoRA checkpoint provides the ability to shorten the process past the sampling required to create a stable diffusion image.

LCM-LoRA runs up to 9 times faster as it uses only four steps (compared to the traditional 50 steps). In addition to this, it is important to note that the LCM-LoRA model is accelerated by TensorRT optimizations.

Stable Video Diffusion

Stable Video Diffusion by Stability AI is their first foundation model for generative video based on the image model Stable Diffusion. Stable Video Diffusion runs up to 40% faster with TensorRT, potentially saving up to minutes per generation.

Feeling lazy to work after the holidays? Check out these tips https://devstyler.io/blog/2024/01/08/feeling-lazy-to-work-after-the-holidays-check-out-these-tips/ Mon, 08 Jan 2024 13:21:29 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=117095 ...]]> The holidays are a wonderful time spent with loved ones, but getting back to work after them is an especially difficult task. And although “work beautifies a person,” a lack of productivity is a common problem after a long holiday where you’ve managed to get away from work commitments.

Still, when you sit back down in your favorite office chair, you should know that you don’t have to try to accomplish all tasks in one day. The impossible goal of getting everything done immediately upon returning is one of the reasons we dread the very idea of going back to work.

A major challenge for anyone returning to work after the holidays is increasing or at least maintaining productivity in the workplace.

And yet, getting back to work after the holidays and being productive is especially important to realizing the company’s goals and the projects we have assigned. We need to get into a rhythm quickly and recharge with positive energy and ideas to implement gradually.

In this article, we will look at the top 5 tips from professionals that will show us how to get our productivity back at work after the holidays, according to chanty.

Prioritize your tasks

Let’s face it: prioritizing tasks is hard because almost everything at work seems to be top priority. Less important tasks are easier to allocate, and that can be a good start. For example, using Eisenhower’s matrix, you can divide daily tasks and larger projects like this:

  • Urgent and important tasks (these should be taken care of as soon as possible);
  • Non-urgent and important tasks (you need to find time for these as soon as the highest priority tasks are done);
  • Urgent and unimportant tasks (redirect them to someone);
  • Tasks that are not urgent and unimportant tasks (forget about them for a while);

Once you have finished prioritizing tasks, start working on them. Once you check off the first ones on your list, you will feel a certain amount of relief and start to gradually get back into a working rhythm. Remember, it’s better to go a little slower and double check everything, for example, than to rush to complete all the tasks in one day and then have to do them all over again.

Commence your return to work by setting forth clear and actionable tasks

Achieving a balance between assignments is crucial; carefully select your initial task.
While tackling challenging projects first can be beneficial, ensure you accurately gauge your capacity and recognize the importance of each task.

Prioritize seeking guidance from colleagues to catch up on any missed information and familiarize yourself with the current work landscape upon your return. Ease into your workflow with routine and less demanding tasks. Engage in activities like reading documents, preparing reports, and revisiting previous project stages, avoiding immediate involvement in tasks requiring intense scrutiny and concentration.

Facilitate a gradual transition to full-scale work by starting with small, determined tasks. Experience the satisfaction of genuine accomplishment as you progress throughout the day. Ideally, postpone meetings, sales, and negotiations during the initial days following your return from seasonal holidays or vacations. Delving into complex and unstructured tasks immediately can lead to burnout.

Create a home time ritual for work

Establish a post-work ritual for when you return home, especially after seasonal holidays or vacations. Delight in the relaxation that awaits you when you step inside your home.

Consider arranging gatherings with friends, taking leisurely strolls in your favorite park for a coffee, or indulging in some shopping (if you haven’t exhausted your funds during the holiday season). Plan ahead by exploring local concerts, exhibitions, or parties to have something exciting on the horizon.

Crucially, schedule enjoyable activities for the weeks and months following your return home. This ensures you have positive events to anticipate, helping you combat any post-holiday blues. Treat yourself without breaking the bank, ensuring a continuous stream of enjoyable moments both at home and during vacations.

Tidy up your home and eliminate any clutter before resuming work. Place souvenirs on shelves, attend to plants, feed the dog, and handle laundry tasks.

Address mundane household chores that could otherwise distract you during the workday. Set up your work table, clear away dust, get comfortable in your chair, grab a cup of coffee and water, and cultivate the right mindset for a productive start. Begin your work by reviewing important messages and emails accumulated during your holiday. Prioritize tasks to prevent lingering concerns.

Maintain social connections by checking in with co-workers. Engaging in small talk is an effective mood booster for both you and your colleagues.

Clean and tidy office space – the best weapon for productivity

Beautiful holiday memories are very important

Viewing vacation as both a mental state and a physical destination is key. Even when confined to a work-filled office, your spirit can be lifted by cherishing memories from far-flung places.

Enhance your workspace by incorporating scented candles and pictures that evoke the highlights of your recent holiday. Cook dishes that captured your heart during your vacation, letting the aromas and memories bring warmth when needed.

Rather than dwelling on the end of your vacation, consider planning for the next one. If an immediate getaway isn’t feasible, plan a small daycation in the coming weeks.

Similar to a vacation, returning to work necessitates preparation and patience. Post-holiday blues are a common part of life, but by infusing elements of your vacation into your daily routine, you can keep the spirit alive.

Burnout State: How to Defeat Your Biggest Enemy https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/07/04/burnout-state-how-to-defeat-your-biggest-enemy/ Tue, 04 Jul 2023 09:07:59 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=108661 ...]]> Burnout is the most dangerous enemy that can plague any developer, no matter how good and experienced. Interestingly, programmers are more prone to burnout than other professionals. But what would unlock such a condition?

One reason we often underestimate is sitting at a desk for more than 8 hours a day. This adversely affects our physical health as prolonged looking at a screen drains our energy and causes fatigue. Developers often work longer hours to meet deadlines, exacerbating the problem. Task overload is a sure way to cause a burnout.

Another cause of burnout is mental health issues, which we also don’t pay proper attention to. Programming is a highly cognitively intensive and stressful job that requires problem-solving skills and tremendous concentration. This can lead to mental fatigue and exhaustion.

Monotony in work can make it monotonous and lead to lack of motivation and passion for programming. This feeling of stagnation can cause anxiety and insomnia, especially if it lasts for weeks.

Isolation from others is another cause of burnout as it can make programmers feel disconnected and lonely. Lack of exercise, sleep and poor nutrition can also contribute to burnout by depleting mental and physical energy.

How to deal with the burnout problem

Building healthy habits
As the saying goes, “healthy body – healthy spirit”. Leading a life with healthy habits can significantly reduce the likelihood of depression. Furthermore, building positive habits starts with setting achievable goals. Achieving these goals generates feelings of satisfaction and joy, which in turn stimulates the release of dopamine, the brain chemical called “feel-good.”

Developers are usually logical thinkers who understand the importance of breaking bad habits and replacing them with positive ones. Whether it’s taking a walk, going for a run or doing a few sit-ups, the key is to start small. Building a new routine takes time and effort, but the rewards are worth it in the end.

Work intelligently, not just tirelessly
It’s not always possible for one person to do tasks like for three. Fortunately, there are numerous solutions that help developers work smarter, not harder. For example, an artificial intelligence tool can significantly boost their productivity if they struggle to create enough code. If collaboration tools are taking up too much of their time, consider trying to automate the handoff of tasks to the team.

Team building activities that encourage interaction and participation
Building a cohesive team of developers is essential for any company. Team building activities can help achieve this goal. This can include group games, team discussions, offsite retreats, or even participation in common activities. The critical element is to create an enjoyable and interactive experience that brings team members closer together and can improve team dynamics, increase productivity and enhance the work environment. This way, a developer who is facing a burnout will be less stressed because he will know that there are colleagues who would help him if he needs it.

Top Tips to Increase Productivity https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/06/28/top-tips-to-increase-productivity/ Wed, 28 Jun 2023 07:40:21 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=108523 ...]]> If you are a programmer or software engineer and sometimes you feel tired, procrastinate and are not satisfied with your performance at work, then this article is for you. You should know that many developers experience similar problems and difficulties. It is undeniable that web development requires time, effort, patience, a lot of concentration and of course tension. And today we’ll discuss the top tips that improve developer productivity and make work more efficient, presented by Flatlogic.

Top Tips to Increase Productivity

Develop yourself first!
If you want to be a productive developer, you need to increase your base of professional knowledge, commercial experience and so-called hard skills. But what is more important for all developers is their fundamental knowledge. You can go deep into algorithms, system architecture or devopsing. And a good understanding of these things will definitely help you feel more confident in any project you work on.

Creating an optimal environment
The ideal developer workplace may look different for everyone, but the main idea is to minimize distractions and make it comfortable for you. An ergonomic workspace with a desk, quality chair and proper lighting is crucial for developers!

For all IT professionals, and especially developers, equipment plays an essential role in making their workspace comfortable and their work productive.

Reduce distractions
If you ask developers what the most annoying thing is for them, most will say it’s being interrupted in the middle of a difficult workflow. Because once you’ve been distracted, it’s hard to concentrate again. But how to clear distractions?

One of the first and easiest ways is to turn off notifications in messengers and apps. You can read the messages when you’re ready for a break. This will definitely save hours of downtime for you.

Use noise-cancelling headphones and mute your phone. Do not multitask! Plan your working day in advance. Turn on the “Do not disturb me” feature while you are performing a task.

Regular communication
Regular communication and feedback leads to more engaged customers and stronger relationships with them, but it can also help improve developer productivity. Feedback gives the team relevant information that helps them decide which features and requests to work on and when. But be careful!

Communication is useful, but as with many good things, you can overdo it. Too much communication can negatively impact productivity and reduce the work time and energy available to complete core tasks.

Setting reasonable deadlines
In order to set deadlines that are reasonable for you, you must first determine the scope of the project. Deadlines are great if they motivate the team and help them plan and prioritize tasks and plan dependencies. But too much or too soon, and they can become overwhelming, negatively impact concentration, and cause stress. When setting deadlines, you need to give a reasonable estimate of how long the task will take and take into account unforeseen errors and obstacles, as well as other priorities that may arise.

Top Ways Tech Leaders Take a Break https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/06/20/top-ways-tech-leaders-take-a-break/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 11:06:04 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=108127 ...]]> Do you feel stressed during the working day? Taking a leadership position is a responsible task and even more so in the tech industry. Amidst the greatest innovations in the fastest growing world, constant learning and upgrading is an inevitable and imperative process, which is also one of the key requirements to stay in the market as a quality employee.

All this, combined with being in charge of everything and being the leader of a team of colourful people with different personalities becomes an extremely difficult task.

The stress of it all can lead to many negative consequences, such as reduced productivity, poor decision-making, poor work-life balance and even health problems. But there is always a solution. And today, we’ve chosen to introduce you to different ways tech leaders like to relax, according to Insight Global.

Top Ways Tech Leaders Take a Break

Prepare the day before
Before you leave the office for the day, take a few minutes to assess the day ahead. What are your top priorities? When are your meetings? Create a to-do list based on your schedule and projects. This will help release work stress from your brain because you know everything is written down and planned.

Morning routine
When you wake up, don’t immediately check your phone for anything. Social media can be a distraction, and then you end up rushing so you’re not late. Office emails can immediately raise your stress levels when you’ve barely woken up. None of this will help you start your morning off right. Your morning routine can include a short meditation, a quick workout, a healthy breakfast, or anything else that helps you start the day.

Don’t forget the short breaks during the day
It’s important to take breaks during the day, even if you only have a few minutes. This will help you refresh and recharge so you can keep working efficiently. Don’t underestimate the importance of taking a break. If you love your job, remember that to be productive you need to give yourself a minute to breathe every now and then.

Don’t forget to get moving
Don’t be stuck in one place for a long time. If you work from an office, short walks are a must. This will get your blood flowing and improve your mood.

Nature – how important it is
Try to take your breaks outside, whether it’s a quick walk or a casual lunch. The fresh air and sunshine can wake you up and get you unfocused, so you return to work more focused and relaxed. And on weekends, don’t miss out on recharging nature walks. Believe me, it’s the best anti-stress medicine.

More healthy food
A balanced lunch and small healthy snacks during the day can help you maintain your energy and mental focus. Keep snacks like nuts and fruit on your desk so it’s easy to choose healthy foods.

Water, Water, Water
Dehydration can lead to too much fatigue and irritability, so be sure to drink enough water throughout the day. Do you find it difficult to drink plain water? Try flavoring your water with fruit or herbs or drink seltzer water.

Disappointment and Disapproval: Designer McGee Retires from the Game Industry https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/04/11/disappointment-and-disapproval-designer-mcgee-retires-from-the-game-industry/ Tue, 11 Apr 2023 08:37:27 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=104370 ...]]> American McGee has announced its retirement from the game industry, Game Developer reports. The reason for this is Electronic Arts’ rejected proposal for a third game in its “Alice” series.

“I have no other ideas or energy left to apply toward getting a new Alice game made. Nor do I have any interest in pursuing new game ideas within the context of the current environment for game development”

said McGee.

Electronic Arts owns the license for the Alice series, which consists of American McGee’s 2000 game Alice and its 2011 sequel Alice: Madness Returns. After the release of the latter version, the designer tried for more than a decade to realize a third title (known as Alice: Asylum), but without success.

According to McGee, the publisher has dropped Alice: Asylum due to “internal analysis of intellectual property, market conditions and production proposal details”.

“At this point, we have exhausted every option for getting a new Alice game made. With those answers from EA, there is no other way forward with the project”

he continued.

In 2012. McGee said he wanted the third game to be in the form of an episodic title, then known as Alice: Otherlands. Later, in 2017 and now called Asylum, he revealed that he had made a licensing proposal for EA to consider, which included a design plan and production plan drawn up in collaboration with Virtuous Games.

McGee will continue to focus on his family and his company Mysterious, which he founded with his wife. The company publishes artwork and clothing based on his work.

Quantum Chemistry AI Model DM21 Found by DeepMind https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/02/16/quantum-chemistry-ai-model-dm21-found-by-deepmind/ Wed, 16 Feb 2022 09:51:35 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=81172 ...]]> Researchers at Google subsidiary DeepMind have open-sourced DM21, a neural network model for mapping electron density to chemical interaction energy, a key component of quantum mechanical simulation. DM21 is also available as an extension to the PySCF simulation framework, according to InfoQ. In a blog post, the DeepMind team shared:

“By expressing the functional as a neural network and incorporating these exact properties into the training data, we learn functionals free from important systematic errors — resulting in a better description of a broad class of chemical reactions.”

The team specifically addresses two long-standing problems with traditional functionals. That are the delocalization error and the spin symmetry breaking.

The company has used a neural network to represent the functional and tailoring its training dataset. The idea is to capture the fractional electron behavior expected for the exact functional. They have also found that they could solve the problems of delocalization and spin symmetry-breaking.

The function also showed itself to be accurate on broad, large-scale benchmarks. That is suggesting that this data-driven approach can capture aspects of the exact functional that have thus far been elusive, according to publication in DeepMind’s blog.

Phillips presented its 10 healthcare Technology Trends for 2022 https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/20/here-are-10-healthcare-technology-trends-for-2022/ Thu, 20 Jan 2022 14:26:48 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=79350 ...]]> The pandemic made people face difficult problems in every aspect of their life. Medicine and healthcare were also kind of victims of the whole COVID-19 situation. However, in a press release, Phillips reveals which are the 10 technology trends which are on their way to taking over this year.

Freeing up focus for patient care by automating routine tasks with AI

Highly capable professionals spend an undue amount of time on routine tasks that pull their attention away from the patient. For example, in radiology departments, imaging staff say almost 25% of their work is inefficient and could be automated.

We now have the tools to automate such tasks to relieve the burden on imaging technologists and free up focus for patient care. AI-enabled technology can make it easier for technologists to plan and execute routine exams, helping them to get images first-time-right with enhanced confidence and precision.

We will see an increased use of AI-based automation in image-guided therapy, where physicians perform minimally invasive procedures on patients with heart disease or other conditions. Interventional physicians may spend up to two hours reporting on cases after a full day of treating patients. AI could help alleviate this workload by auto-logging different steps of the procedure – enabling physicians to give their full attention to providing patient care.

Improving access to care through virtual collaboration between providers

64% of global healthcare leaders say they’re currently investing heavily in virtual care. But while this healthcare technology trend is generally seen as impacting the patient-provider relationship, the rise of virtual collaboration between providers themselves offers equally promising opportunities.

The adoption of tele-ICUs in acute care is a prime example. A tele-ICU can extend critical care resources to the bedside, no matter where the hospital is.

By using a live collaboration platform, experienced sonographers can remotely assist their local counterparts with exams, while colleagues can use the same platform to discuss patients’ medical status with them.

Connecting the hospital to the home with virtual care

Health technology innovations are enabling people to better engage with providers, access more care overall, and get the resources they need to stay informed while taking more preventative healthcare measures.

Healthcare providers are turning to remote patient monitoring and virtual visits in order to maximize access to care, strengthen connections with at-risk populations, minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission, provide more convenient experiences and reduce the strain on scarce hospital resources.

According to the World Bank and World Health Organization (WHO), half the world still lacks access to quality care, and without drastic action, the WHO estimates that 5 billion people will be unable to access healthcare by 2030. World-leading healthcare organizations continue to pioneer digital health technologies that bring care closer to patients and partner with local providers to keep improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, no matter where they live.

Offering more services at facilities closer to patients

Another healthcare technology trend enabling more equitable access to care is the move from hospital-centric to locally delivered care. Patients who have traditionally had to travel long distances for state-of-the-art or specialized healthcare can access these technologies via smaller (and sometimes even mobile) healthcare facilities.

Out-of-hospital settings like local diagnostic hubs, Virtual Care Stations, and even technology-equipped container structures can offer closer-to-home healthcare that’s especially vital for people living in rural and underserved communities. Primary care facilities and local clinics, through a combination of virtual specialist support and technologies such as ultrasound and X-ray imaging, can now function as remote hospitals, providing services such as ultrasound exams to pregnant women. If a patient comes in with a broken wrist, a local practitioner can make an X-ray and immediately share it with a remote traumatologist, radiologist or emergency doctor for remote consultation instead of requiring the patient to make a lengthy trip to a big-city hospital.

Certain types of specialist treatment have also become more routine, giving rise to the growing trend of office-based labs and ambulatory surgery centers that offer patients access to potentially life-saving minimally invasive procedures closer to their communities.

In the near future, one can imagine nurses routinely performing ultrasound exams at retail or community centers, using a portable handheld device with support from a remote expert sonographer and AI algorithms that can extract basic information from the scan.

Integrating data to enable clinical collaboration and patient-centered care

Multidisciplinary care teams are trying their best to connect and keep track of all relevant information pertaining to their patients – from a variety of subspecialty reports to information about patients’ current condition, demographic data, and health history. Deciding on the right therapy is equally complex, especially in areas like oncology where physicians and patients may face a bewildering number of choices.

Integrated diagnostics is a rapidly evolving field where organizations have smart, connected systems in place that give them comprehensive and actionable insights into their patient populations by uniting imaging, monitoring, laboratory, genomics and longitudinal data. Multidisciplinary tumor boards are an example of this healthcare technology trend. With integrated diagnostics solutions, care teams can now deliver comprehensive, patient-centric cancer care, uniting patient data from disparate sources in dashboards, thus facilitating collaborative diagnostics, treatment and follow-up decisions.

Using predictive analytics to proactively manage transitions of care

Using the power of AI and predictive analytics, we can now extract relevant insights on patient flow and patient care needs from vast amounts of real-time and historical hospital data, to predict capacity needs in the next 24 to 48 hours. After initial validation, the resulting algorithms can be updated on a regular basis to take recent trends and circumstances into account – offering clinical and operational teams the real-time, actionable insights they need to make timely and effective decisions.

By embedding these data-driven practices into everyday management of patient flow, healthcare systems will be able to get the most out of precious resources and manage transitions of care more effectively across the patient journey, from hospital admission to discharge and back into the home – ensuring that the patient gets the right care in the right place at the right time.

Increasing flexibility and circularity through service business models

Healthcare organizations are increasingly implementing ‘as a service’ business models. For example, many are turning to SaaS (Software as a Service), whereby cloud-based systems give physicians, staff and even patients the opportunity to access data remotely, share critical insights in real time and collaborate more effectively, for better care coordination. SaaS models generally require a lower initial investment, and give organizations the financial flexibility to ’pay as they go,’ leading to more predictable costs.

Another benefit of SaaS models is their overall energy efficiency. When companies move to the cloud, their average server utilization can approach 65% compared with just ~15% on-premise. And while the PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of the average data center is 1.7, the cloud industry average is just 1.2. In short, this means fewer servers are required, and that any servers that are in use are consuming less energy.

Decarbonizing healthcare through renewable energy and efficiency

The healthcare sector is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for over 4% of global CO₂ emissions. Health leaders across the world recognize the health implications of climate change – and the industry’s responsibility to take action.

The greatest scope for improvement lies in the transition to renewable energy, as well as in improving the lifetime energy efficiency of the devices and systems used in healthcare. Electricity consumption while in use accounts for the vast majority of these products’ total environmental impact. On a global level, it is primarily the combined effect of renewable energy and energy efficiency that will drive decarbonization.

Helping health consumers make sustainable choices through eco-labeling

In the rapidly expanding world of e-commerce, it is not unusual for consumers – including those buying personal health devices – to buy the same product in two or three formats to try them out at home. According to Pitney Bowes, 51% of shoppers consciously overbuy online, knowing they’ll return the items they don’t want. But when it comes to returns, too often, somewhere in the chain, it ‘pays’ to destroy the product and avoid the costs of transport, storage, relabeling, etc., rather than going back to the source.

Highlight the environmental benefits of ‘rethinking returns’ through better-informed ordering. In Europe, we see more and more brands signing up to the EU’s Green Consumption Pledge to raise awareness of products’ environmental footprint. One way they can do this is through the adoption of eco-labeling.

Turning innovations and commitments into measurable outcomes

Being able to measure and report outcomes in granular detail is central to proving the value of healthcare services, helps providers compare treatment options, and reveals opportunities for improving or even redefining care. Providing granular outcome data is increasingly becoming a requirement for unlocking reimbursement pathways, as the healthcare industry transitions away from fee-for-service models and towards value-based care.

As pressure mounts for healthcare companies to step up their actions to safeguard the health of people and the planet, there is an increased demand for proven results. This is why healthcare organizations are putting more resources into measuring not just clinical outcomes, but outcomes relating to social impact and environmental sustainability, too – such as proof of carbon-neutrality, or use of renewable energy sources.
