Opsera Announces Patents Accelerating DevOps Productivity for Engineering Teams https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/23/opsera-announces-patents-accelerating-devops-productivity-for-engineering-teams/ Thu, 23 Mar 2023 07:52:03 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=103475 ...]]> Opsera announced that five patents have been issued that enable enterprise engineering leaders and teams to gain unprecedented end-to-end visibility of software delivery and accelerate the speed and security of delivery while maximizing their investment.

“Enterprises have spent upwards of $25 million on resources and custom tooling to try to manage their software delivery, teams and DevOps ecosystem,”

said Kumar Chivukula, co-founder and CEO of Opsera.

“Our DevOps Flow platform provides leaders with visibility into the velocity, productivity, and governance of their engineering teams, and this saves money and moves their company’s digital transformation objectives forward”,

he continued.

Up to 90% of engineers’ time is spent maintaining pipelines with custom scripts or a black box solution. This is what limits engineers to a vendor solution and custom integrations. They spend as much time managing DevOps as they do designing.

Existing DevOps solutions fail because they are point solutions that solve a specific function but do not provide a platform solution for the entire organization.

DevOps Flow platform accomplishes three things:

– Gives enterprise teams choice and flexibility with their tools and automation while bringing existing internal tools into one tool management system.
– Accelerates enterprise DevOps maturity through automating pipelines, with security and quality gates built in to keep fast moving teams productive.
– Gives leaders visibility into their teams’ performance with insights into metrics all in one place so smart decisions can be made fast.

NVIDIA Introduces GDC Neural Graph and DLSS 3 PC Tools https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/17/nvidia-introduces-gdc-neural-graph-and-dlss-3-pc-tools/ Fri, 17 Mar 2023 07:43:53 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=103133 ...]]> NVIDIA has announced an expanded list of games and new developer plugins for NVIDIA DLSS 3.

The latest version of NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is now supported in a number of games and franchises and integrates into the Unreal Engine. The company is also publicly releasing the DLSS Frame Generation plug-in to further facilitate developer adoption of the technology.

“PC gaming super-franchises such as Diablo and Forza Horizon and Bethesda’s new Redfall are raising the bar for image quality with stunning graphics while using DLSS to keep gameplay smooth as silk”,

said Matt Wuebbling, vice president of global GeForce marketing at NVIDIA.

Neural graphics intertwines artificial intelligence and graphics to create an accelerated rendering pipeline that is constantly learning and improving. Instead of rendering every pixel in the frame initially, DLSS allows the game to render 1/8th of the pixels, then uses AI and GeForce RTX™ Tensor Cores to render the remaining pixels, dramatically increasing frame rates while delivering crisp, high-quality images.

Some of the highly anticipated games being added to the DLSS roster in the next few months are Forza Horizon 5, Redfall and Diablo IV.

“We’re excited by the high frame rate of Diablo IV running on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series hardware and DLSS 3”,

said Michael Bukowski, Diablo IV technical director at Blizzard Entertainment.

NVIDIA will make DLSS Frame Generation plug-ins publicly available during GDC, allowing even more developers to integrate the framerate boosting technology into their games and applications.

DLSS Frame Generation will be available to access via NVIDIA Streamline, an open-source, cross-vendor framework that simplifies the integration of super-resolution technologies in 3D games and apps.

DLSS technology is always improving through ongoing training on NVIDIA’s AI supercomputer. The public release will incorporate the latest DLSS enhancements made earlier this year.

Hilla Releases Version Giving Access to the Java Ecosystem https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/14/hilla-releases-version-giving-access-to-the-java-ecosystem/ Tue, 14 Mar 2023 10:24:39 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=103018 ...]]> Hilla has announced the release of version 2.0, which will use Spring Boot 3, Java 17 and Jakarta EE 10, Infoq reports.

The latest release provides access to the latest features and enhancements in the Java ecosystem. Hilla 2.0 also includes an improved TypeScript generator, support for reactive endpoint web sockets, support for native GraalVM images, a simplified theming mechanism, and a new SSO Kit.

With Hilla’s new reactive endpoint feature, developers can send data to clients in a stream without using the usual HTTP request-response model.

Another important addition to Hilla 2.0 is support for GraalVM Native image. This feature includes hints for the AOT compiler required by Spring Boot to build a GraalVM native image. Native images offer faster boot times and lower memory usage compared to JVM-based applications. Developers can build a local native image through Maven and use the build packages to create a container for production deployment.

Hilla 2.0 also includes simplified theming, a new SSO Kit for quickly adding single sign-on capabilities to Hilla applications, and an improved TypeScript generator. The SSO Kit enables integration with third-party identity providers such as Okta, Keycloak and Azure Active Directory. It also provides all the configuration needed to add single sign-on capabilities to Hilla applications based on OpenID Connect.

Chainlink Launches Serverless Self-Service Platform to Benefit Developers https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/06/chainlink-launches-serverless-self-service-platform-to-benefit-developers/ Mon, 06 Mar 2023 09:39:37 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=102527 ...]]> Chainlink has launched a serverless self-service platform to help developers connect their decentralized applications (dApps) or smart contracts to any Web 2.0 API, the company exclusively told TechCrunch.

The new platform, Chainlink Functions enables the execution of custom computations on top of Web 2.0 APIs within minutes through its network.

“Our goal is to enable developers to combine the best of web3 smart contracts with the power of Web 2.0 APIs,”

El Moujahid said

Chainlink connects data in the chain to external systems to enable smart contracts to execute transactions based on real inputs and outputs. According to the platform’s website, it has enabled more than $7 trillion worth of transactions since mid-February.

Chainlink Functions hopes to be the bridge between the two parties to create mass adoption.

“Web3 is not going to be a binary thing. I’ve seen this in AI. The path to mass adoption was making it easy to embed AI into your apps. It’s the same with web3. You don’t have to build your entire app on-chain. It’s going to be a spectrum: part smart contract; part Web 2.0 APIs.”

El Moujahid said.

The new platform also supports more widespread programming languages such as JavaScript so that developers unfamiliar with Web3 can get into the field. It will also provide integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Meta, and others.

With Meta for example, web3 developers can connect social media activities and small e-commerce businesses with a smart contract using Chainlink Functions and automatically trigger actions on-chain based on off-chain activities.

The platform’s serverless nature also means developers can stop worrying “about the overhead of managing and securing the infrastructure on which their code will run,”

El Moujahid said.

El Mujahid also shares that the platform is currently in private beta mode on Ethereum and Polygon’s test networks. Additionally, Chainlink plans to expand its functionality to more blockchains, add new integrations and tools, and launch on the main network as soon as possible.

Meta and Microsoft progress towards tying up Workspace with Teams closer https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/11/16/meta-and-microsoft-progress-towards-tying-up-workspace-with-teams-closer/ Tue, 16 Nov 2021 09:52:13 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=74783 ...]]> Thanks to the latest integration announced by the Microsoft and Meta, Microsoft Teams users can access newsfeed updates in Meta’s Workplace enterprise social network without switching screens. The future plans to enable streaming of Teams video calls directly from Workplace are also in the works.

The integrations are the first between Microsoft’s workstream collaboration tool and Workplace, which has more than 7 million paid subscribers.

The new integrations provide two functions. First, a Workplace app for Teams can be pinned to the Teams side navigation bar or added as a tab to provide access to the Workplace newsfeed within the app. Workplace content can be marked as “important” by Teams admins to draw users’ attention to certain information. Individual users will also be able to pull content from a Workplace group into a Teams channel to highlight to colleagues, as well as react to Workplace posts directly from Teams. The video integration, that is due in early 2022, will let users view a Teams video call from Workplace and comment in real-time. Presenters in Teams will be able to monitor view engagement and reactions in both apps simultaneously.

According to Angela Ashenden, a principal analyst, the integrations should be of particular benefit to Workplace customers who see the app as their central employee communications solution but use Teams for day-to-day productivity. The integrations make a lot of sense for Meta since they help push information from Workplace to users where they tend to spend the bulk of their time. Ashenden commented:

“By surfacing the newsfeed in Teams, Workplace can continue to reach those employees, while allowing comms and HR leaders to retain control over the communications and employee engagement platform strategy.”

Ashenden also added that while the integrations help connect the two platforms, users of both Teams and Workplace still face challenges which can create confusion for employees.

Salesforce Unveils its first Slack Integrations Post-Acquisition https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/08/19/salesforce-unveils-its-first-slack-integrations-post-acquisition/ Thu, 19 Aug 2021 10:45:01 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=66593 ...]]> Salesforce said on Monday that Slack will be integrated into the Customer 360 platform in several ways to help connect sales, marketing, and service staff more effectively — both internally and cross-company.

The announcement follows similar moves from Salesforce rival Microsoft, which integrated its Teams collaboration platform into Dynamics 365 in recent months to improve information sharing for staff using Microsoft’s CRM tools.

With Slack-First Customer 360, sales reps will be able to access and update Salesforce records with “digital deal rooms” in Slack; Salesforce cited a study from Forrester Consulting that suggests sales cycles are 15% faster when using team collaboration app. Automated daily briefs provide sales staff with a personalized list of tasks, meetings, and deals.

For customer service teams, integration with Salesforce Service Cloud will enable the creation of Slack channel “swarms” to resolve customer problems quickly, while an “expert finder” feature can “automatically identify” staff equipped to help with high-priority cases “based on availability, capacity, and skills.”

And for marketing staffers, there will be access to information from Datorama within Slack. The integration allows marketing staff to receive notifications of changes to marketing materials. These three Slack-First Sales, Service and Marketing features will be available in the pilot this fall, Salesforce said; the Datorama integration is available now.

Salesforce also announced plans to integrate Tableau into Slack, with notifications of changes within the analytics tool, such as a sales pipeline drop, as well as “watchlist digests” to provide a daily update on certain metrics. Slack-First Analytics is set for general availability this fall. Wayne Kurtzman, research director at IDC, said:

“Slack and Salesforce had two jobs: Don’t break either product and make both better than the sum of the parts. They did this by avoiding the temptation to quickly integrate the two interfaces, yet effectively enable integrations that streamline work.”

The integrations will enable both products to “do what they do and improve on that with a channel-based conversational layer that can trigger actions within the Salesforce stack,” he said.

While the two companies already had some integrations between their tools, this week’s announcement indicates Salesforce’s intention to tie the platforms together more deeply and to maximize cross-fertilization between them, said Angela Ashenden, principal analyst at CCS Insight.

Although the integrations should be useful in bridging user workflows, the process is in its early stages and the platforms remain very much separate.
