profile – Devstyler.io https://devstyler.io News for developers from tech to lifestyle Tue, 07 Nov 2023 10:01:40 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.8.5 Actress Rashmika Mandanna With First Comment After Becoming A Victim Of DeepFake https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/11/07/actress-rashmika-mandanna-with-first-comment-after-becoming-a-victim-of-deepfake/ Tue, 07 Nov 2023 10:01:40 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=113368 ...]]> Popular Indian actress Rashmika Mandana has fallen victim to the most dangerous DeepFake technology till date.

Recently, a fake video of the actress created with the help of DeepFake has taken the internet by storm. The video shows her entering an elevator wearing a sports outfit.

However, on closer inspection, it turned out to be a deepfake – a digitally manipulated video. The fake video is so convincing that no one has questioned its veracity to this point, and in a short time it has managed to garner millions of views, and on X – formerly known as Twitter – views are over 2.4 million.

Journalist Abhishek Kumar shared the video on X, expressing his concerns about the need for new legal and regulatory measures to combat the spread of fake content on the Internet.

Despite the unpleasant moment for Rashmika Mandana, she shared how she felt after what happened and thanked people for their support.

“I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused”, Mandanna began in a statement posted Monday to X (formerly Twitter).

The video was originally shared on Instagram about a month ago, but with another woman named Zara Patel. There is no evidence to suggest Patel was involved in the making of the Deepfake video.

“Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft”, she continued.

Patel was not late to comment on the case and shared a story on her Instagram account expressing her concerns about the future of the fairer sex. “I worry for the future of women and girls who now have to be even more afraid to show themselves on social media.”

This is not an isolated case as various celebrities from different fields have fallen victim to such fake videos in recent years.

Who Punched Mark Zuckerberg? https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/10/03/who-punched-mark-zuckerberg/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 12:43:26 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=111791 ...]]> Mark Zuckerberg has sparked a wave of reactions over a selfie he posted on his Instagram account, which shows him with large bruises under his eyes and a wound on his nose, People reports.

The 39-year-old co-founder and CEO of Meta was quick to avoid speculation and wrote under the photo “Sparring got a little out of hand. May need to update my avatar 🤣”.

It turned out that Zuckerberg’s bruises are not from Elon Musk, with whom he is also facing a fight, which so far may hardly take place, but from the entrepreneur’s favorite sport – Jiu Jitsu.

Mark’s selfie sparked a variety of reactions, with professional fighters praising him for a job well done.

MMA Champion Johnny Eblen was not late with his commentary and complimented Zuckerberg on the “nice eyeliner”.

Another Instagram user wryly said Musk’s photo was against Meta rules.

Jiu Jitsu is one of the Meta CEO’s hobbies, and it’s more than obvious that even the consequences wouldn’t make him give up his favorite sport, Jiu Jitsu.

WinZO Releases New SDK to Benefit Developers https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/03/07/winzo-releases-new-sdk-to-benefit-developers/ Tue, 07 Mar 2023 09:04:31 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=102634 ...]]> WinZO has announced the release of a software development kit (SDK) in a bid to make it easier for developers to incorporate third-party games into the platform, Money Control reports.

WinZO said they can sign up to the company’s game developer console and submit their games for review. The startup will then create a game profile based on the game’s quality, tech compatibility and skill requirements and approve the game by checking the app’s security. Once approved, the game developer will get access to WinZO’s SDK to make their game real on the platform.

Through this SDK, developers will be able to access real-time analytics and game-level data, including user ratings, data logs, revenue, retention metrics and other technical information, the company said in a statement.

WinZO enables developers to host their games on the platform and earn revenue through a microtransaction-based monetization model ranging from Rs 1- Rs 10, instead of traditional in-app purchases and ad-based models.

The company claims to have a portfolio of over 100 games spanning across genres including strategy, sports, casual, card, arcade, racing, action and board games in 12 languages such as English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and Bhojpuri. Additionally, the company has a user base of over 100 million users on the platform, 90% of which are from tier 2 to tier 5 regions in the country.

TikTok is working on Reestablishing a Feature https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/25/tiktok-is-working-on-reestablishing-a-feature/ Tue, 25 Jan 2022 10:08:37 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=79598 ...]]> TikTok is on its way of bringing back a feature which lets you know who has seen your profile in the last 30 days.

Matt Navara, a social media consultant, posted:

“TikTok is working on a LinkedIn-like Profile Views feature.”

The feature will let you view who visited your TikTok Profile in the past 30 days.”

However, it seems that the platform has already started testing its opt-in functionality. Navara has posted some screenshots that have been provided by Kev Adriano. They clearly show how the option works and what it will look like.

This social media had previously provided this option with the aim of boosting connections in the application. However, TikTok removed this feature early last year as there were some cases of TikTok stalkers who turned out to be a real problem around the world.

Probably by making the option opt-in, now it will be a kind of solution for that problem.

50,000 British .eu Websites Taken Down Because Of Brexit  https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/06/50-000-british-eu-websites-taken-down-because-of-brexit/ Thu, 06 Jan 2022 10:39:37 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=78298 ...]]> Over 48,000 British-held EU Internet domain names were taken offline indefinitely on Monday in the wake of Brexit. Leave.eu was one of the high profile domains affected by the move was

EURid revoked Britons’ right to the domain name citing Brexit as the reason.

The process to remove the domains began following the formal withdrawal of the UK from the European Union in early 2020. To be eligible for a .eu domain, a person must be an EU citizen, a resident in a member state or an organisation established in the Union.

British holders were first notified that they would lose their domain in October 2020. The removal on Monday was the final step in the process.

Any sites that were still not compliant by January 2021 were suspended before finally being revoked this week. The director of the European Centre for International Political Economy Hosuk Lee-Makiyama told  Euronews Next:

“You can really tell the lack of consequential thinking on behalf of the UK. But also on the side of people who are pointing this out almost with schadenfreude against the UK and amongst the people who are advocating for Remain, because actually to require a local presence or citizenship when it comes to domain names is something that we sometimes consider to be a trade barrier.”

On monday EURid released the 48,000 revoked domain names “for general registration on ‘first come, first serve’ basis” by EU citizens or residents.

The new Instagram Video Selfie Verification is now live https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/11/16/the-new-instagram-video-selfie-verification-is-now-live/ Tue, 16 Nov 2021 09:39:21 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=74779 ...]]> Instagram is about to make some changes in order to improve its users’ experience. It is generally accepted that there are so many spam accounts and fake profiles that it is really hard to limit them. Instagram, however, might have a solution for this problem, which is requiring users to take a video selfie in order to verify their identity.

Matt Navara, a social media consultant, spotted that Instagram has already started using video selfie identity verification. As we all know, Facebook, recently re-named as Meta, is Instagram’s owner which now promises that those video selfies will never be visible on the platform and they will be deleted in about 30 days. Biometric data will not be used by the company’s new face recognition technology. What about all the newly arrived users? Well, they will be asked to shoot a short video selfie which will be used only by the company’s AI algorithms and that’s only for proving that you are a real person.

A while ago Instagram started working on the new feature. In August last year, this security check was rolled out but it turned out to have some technical issues which are obviously solved now because the feature is broadly available.

We need to specify that right now the video selfie recognition is acquirable only for newly created accounts. For all existing profiles, this feature is not pinpointed yet.

Some dating applications such as Bumble or Tinder have used a photo verification system that requires users to upload selfies but from a different angle. Instagram’s video selfie verification, however, appears to be more reliable and it won’t be easy to rib for all the scammers out there.
