According to a company blog post, the move is in line with the team’s desire to let users and developers shape the future of artificial intelligence in Windows Terminal by fostering a collaborative environment for innovation.

Terminal Chat, which is currently available in Windows Terminal Canary, allows users to have conversations with an AI service directly in the terminal. This feature enables users to receive intelligent suggestions, such as searching for commands or understanding error messages, while maintaining the context of their terminal session.

The current implementation of the Terminal Chat feature in Windows Terminal requires users to furnish their own Azure OpenAI Service endpoint and key, as it lacks an integrated large-language model. Those keen on utilizing Terminal Chat can locate the corresponding code in the feature/llm branch of the Windows Terminal repository on GitHub. Furthermore, the most recent build of Windows Terminal Canary, inclusive of the Terminal Chat functionality, can be obtained by downloading from the GitHub repository.

Configuring Terminal Chat in Windows Terminal Canary involves the manual addition of an AI service endpoint and key to the Terminal Chat settings. Currently, Terminal Chat exclusively integrates with the Azure OpenAI Service. To acquire the essential Azure OpenAI Service endpoint and key, users must create and deploy an Azure OpenAI Service resource.

While MRI is the imaging technique of choice for assessing a range of cancers, including prostate cancer, in the UK alone, the number of radiologists is predicted to reach 40% by 2027, indicating the need for a streamlined, simplified and accurate means of cancer diagnosis, Med Tech reports.

A clinical study shows that radiologists can miss 12% of significant prostate cancer cases using MRI. The data, presented at the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) in September 2023, shows that Pi could help reduce undetected cancers by up to 6% while reducing avoidable biopsies by up to 43%.

According to Med Tech, with the help of artificial intelligence, Pi analyzes MRIs and is fully integrated into the radiologist’s workflow, targeting key issues related to variability, radiologist timing and diagnostic accuracy in prostate cancer. What is Pi?
Prostate Intelligence (Pi) is an AI and machine learning based software system designed to help radiologists detect and report the presence of prostate cancer lesions from MR scans (MRI).

According to sources, the National Basketball Association, known as the NBA, and Major League Baseball (MLB) have questioned partnering with ESPN if Disney’s goal is to reduce or replace payments to the leagues for rights to broadcast ESPN’s equity sports shows.

Disney executives and league officials are aware that discussions about a potential strategic partnership are still in the “idea” phase. According to sources who requested anonymity to CNBC, the talks have not had many specifics, but are likely to heat up as ESPN tries to reach a rights renewal agreement with the NBA.

And while Disney tries not to go bankrupt, the streaming division of the media giant continues to lose money.

The sports agreement seems to be one way for the company to improve its situation. Agreeing to a deal in which ESPN swaps stock for sports rights could save Disney billions of dollars to use on other strategic ventures. ESPN recently struck a deal with Penn Entertainment that will give it $1.5 billion in cash over the next 10 years.

One of the reasons the leagues haven’t confirmed Disney’s offer is because they also need the cash, especially since the regional sports network business is in jeopardy. Teams pay players largely out of sports rights fees. ESPN’s demands play a significant role in how leagues make money. Organizations can make competitive bids for packages of games because ESPN is almost always a potential buyer.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Disney and look forward to continuing discussions around the future of our partnership”, an NBA spokesman said.

According to insiders, Disney has notified the leagues that it is in separate talks with strategic investors that could provide distribution benefits.

An MLB spokesman declined to comment on the situation.

The list of more than 8,000 authors includes some of the world’s best-known writers, including Margaret Atwood, Dan Brown, Michael Chabon, Jonathan Franzen, James Patterson, Jodi Picoult and Philip Pullman, among others.

In an open letter signed by them and published by the Authors Guild, the writers accuse AI companies of unfairly profiting from their work.

“Millions of copyrighted books, articles, essays, and poetry provide the ‘food’ for AI systems, endless meals for which there has been no bill. You’re spending billions of dollars to develop AI technology. It is only fair that you compensate us for using our writings, without which AI would be banal and extremely limited”, the letter said.

The letter was sent to the CEOs of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, Google, Stability AI, IBM and Microsoft. Meta, Microsoft and Stability AI declined to comment.

The rule will only apply to devices issued by Samsung to its workers, meaning consumers and others who own Samsung phones, laptops and other connected devices will not be affected. It’s unclear if it has already gone into effect or when it will go into effect.

According to a memo dated Monday seen by Bloomberg, the restriction will be temporary and will continue while it builds “security measures to create a secure environment to safely use generative artificial intelligence to enhance employee productivity and efficiency.”

Despite all the euphoria ChatGPT has been generating in recent months, in addition to leaks of proprietary data to the service, as happened with Samsung last month, there have also been reports of potential data privacy breaches, copyright violations and inaccuracies in ChatGPT responses.

“Web3 is not going to be a binary thing. I’ve seen this in AI. The path to mass adoption was making it easy to embed AI into your apps. It’s the same with web3. You don’t have to build your entire app on-chain. It’s going to be a spectrum: part smart contract; part Web 2.0 APIs.”

El Moujahid said.

The new platform also supports more widespread programming languages such as JavaScript so that developers unfamiliar with Web3 can get into the field. It will also provide integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Meta, and others.

With Meta for example, web3 developers can connect social media activities and small e-commerce businesses with a smart contract using Chainlink Functions and automatically trigger actions on-chain based on off-chain activities.

The platform’s serverless nature also means developers can stop worrying “about the overhead of managing and securing the infrastructure on which their code will run,”

El Moujahid said.
