Satya Nadella – Devstyler.io https://devstyler.io News for developers from tech to lifestyle Thu, 26 Feb 2026 10:32:04 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.8.5 At Davos, Tech CEOs Turn AI Into a Competitive and Political Battleground https://devstyler.io/blog/2026/01/26/at-davos-tech-ceos-turn-ai-into-a-competitive-and-political-battleground/ Mon, 26 Jan 2026 12:21:48 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=133046 ...]]> At this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, artificial intelligence dominated conversations not just as a technological breakthrough, but as a source of rivalry, political tension, and strategic positioning among the world’s most powerful tech leaders. Coverage from TechCrunch and other international outlets shows that Davos has become a stage where CEOs promote their AI ambitions while openly disagreeing on regulation, safety, and control.

Sam Altman

Executives such as of OpenAI framed AI as a transformative force capable of reshaping productivity and economic growth, while emphasizing the need for global coordination on safety. Altman’s comments placed OpenAI at the center of debates around who should build and govern frontier models—especially as governments seek greater oversight.

Satya Nadella

At the same time, highlighted AI’s rapid enterprise adoption, positioning it as a general-purpose technology comparable to electricity or the internet. Nadella pushed back against overly restrictive regulation, arguing that innovation and deployment must move faster than legislation if economies are to fully benefit from AI advances.

Sundar Pichai

From Google’s perspective, Sundar Pichai stressed the importance of responsible AI development and long-term governance frameworks. His remarks reflected the tension faced by companies that are both aggressively investing in large models and simultaneously under pressure from regulators across the U.S. and Europe.

Jensen Huang

The competitive undercurrent was impossible to miss. Jensen Huang underscored how access to compute, energy, and advanced chips has become a strategic advantage, reinforcing the idea that AI leadership is increasingly tied to infrastructure dominance. In this framing, AI is not just software—it is a geopolitical asset.

Alex Karp

Political and security dimensions were brought into sharper focus by Alex Karp, who argued that AI development is inseparable from national security and democratic resilience. His comments echoed broader concerns voiced by policymakers attending Davos, including the risk that authoritarian regimes could leverage AI faster and with fewer constraints.

Elon Musk

Even when not formally on stage, Elon Musk loomed large over discussions. Musk’s long-standing warnings about AI risk, combined with his newer role as founder of xAI, made him a frequent reference point in debates over open versus closed models and the concentration of power in AI development.

Taken together, the Davos discussions revealed a clear divide. While tech leaders broadly agree that AI will redefine economies and societies, they remain deeply split on how fast it should scale, who should regulate it, and who ultimately controls the technology. At Davos, AI was no longer just a topic of innovation—it became a competitive and political battleground that will shape global tech policy for years to come.

Microsoft and Intel Strike $15 Billion Dollar Deal https://devstyler.io/blog/2024/02/23/microsoft-and-intel-strike-15-billion-dollar-deal/ Fri, 23 Feb 2024 10:41:46 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=119004 ...]]> The deal reflects Intel’s desire to return to the top of chipmaking

The contract between the tech companies is that Intel will make custom chips for computers designed by Microsoft and for Microsoft, The Verge reports.

The partnership between Intel and Microsoft was announced during the Intel Foundry event. Intel estimates the value of the deal at over $15 billion dollar.

There is no information from the two corporations on exactly what the chips will be used for. Microsoft will use them for internal designs in both processors and AI smoke detectors, writes Bloomberg.

“We are in the midst of a very exciting platform shift that will fundamentally transform productivity for every individual organization and the entire industry,” stated Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in the official press release.

The chips will use Intel’s 18A process, which has been an indispensable part of the company since the return of Intel CEO – Pat Gelsinger.

The corporation believes that through the production of chips, they will once again rank among the leaders in the technology industry. In this venture, Microsoft will be their first major customer as well as a partner.

Producing designs for other companies is a strategy that has worked well for Intel’s competitor Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). It has created profitable partnerships with corporations such as: Apple, Qualcomm and AMD.

Pat Gelsinger announced that the foundry model for microelectronics manufacturing is a big part of Intel’s strategy. The new plans to manufacture chips using the foundry business model come at a time when technology companies are trying to make their own chips but are facing many challenges.

Intel Corporation has postponed the opening of a $20 billion chip plant to 2026. The original plans were for it to be opened in 2025. As the reason for the cancellation of the opening of the plant, Intel points to insufficient demand in the chip market and the delay in funding from the state.

Who is Sam Altman: 10 Interesting Facts About Him https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/11/21/who-is-sam-altman-10-interesting-facts-about-him/ Tue, 21 Nov 2023 15:05:45 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=114515 ...]]> The most talked-about topic of the last few days has been the firing of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and speculation about Altman’s future has abounded on the Internet. Reports have also surfaced that Altman was offered a reassignment, but he declined and the company has begun searching for a new interim CEO.

Yesterday morning everyone’s attention was drawn to one piece of news. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Altman would be joining the tech giant to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team.

And even though Sam Altman’s name has become the most commented on for a few days, few of you actually know who he is and what his contributions to artificial intelligence are.

Let’s get to know the founder of ChatGPT a little better and understand what significance he has in the field of technology. 10 things you need to know about Sam Altman, presented by News Ablive.

 • Samuel Harris Altman was born into a Jewish family on April 22, 1985. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He got his first computer when he was only eight years old.
 • He chose to go to Stanford University to study computer science, but dropped out after one year. In 2005, he decided to pursue other things.
 • At the age of 19, he co-founded the location-based social media app, Loopt. He raised $30 million from venture capital funds, but the company failed to get on its feet. Loopt was eventually purchased by Green Dot Corporation for $43.4 million in 2012.
 • In 2011, Loopt joined Y Combinator as a part-time partner. Within 3 years, he became president of Y Combinator.
 • In 2015, he joined Combinator. Altman made Forbes’ “30 under 30” list.
 • In 2016, he became the president of YC Group which comprised Y Combinator and other units. He then decided to focus on the AI research lab OpenAI in 2019 and hence stepped down from the president of the YC Group to just holding a chair on its board.
 • In 2019, he co-founded Tools for Humanity, a company that built a cryptocurrency-based global iris-based biometric system, called Worldcoin. However, the company drew flak after the publication of a 2022 report by MIT Technology Review which revealed that it exploited the indigent workers of low-income countries in order to expand its network.
 • He then made the complete transition to OpenAI as a CEO and co-founder in 2020. The company had already received funding from tech giants such as Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and others.
 • He was named one of the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine in 2023 based on his work with OpenAI and his investments in startups such as Airbnb, Stripe, Pinterest, Reddit, etc.
 • Fun fact, he was also the the CEO of our beloved Reddit for a short span of eight days in 2014 during the period when Yishan Wong stepped down and Steve Huffman returned as CEO.

Fired OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Joins Microsoft https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/11/20/fired-openai-ceo-sam-altman-joins-microsoft/ Mon, 20 Nov 2023 09:18:02 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=114357 ...]]> Sam Altman, who was removed as OpenAI’s CEO, will join Microsoft to lead a new team focused on artificial intelligence, the tech giant announced, AlJazeera reported.

Microsoft CEO and chairman Satya Nadella said today that Altman, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and other former OpenAI employees will lead a “new advanced artificial intelligence research team” at the company.

“We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success,” Nadella said on X, formerly Twitter.

Satya Nadella also said Microsoft looks forward to working with OpenAI’s new leadership team, including interim CEO Emmett Shearer.

The company remains committed to its partnership with the artificial intelligence startup, in which it has reportedly invested $13 billion. The company has invested $13 billion in the AI company.

Following a report by The Information on Sunday stating that Altman would not be returning to OpenAI despite executives’ attempts to persuade him, Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and board director at OpenAI, informed the employees on Sunday night. The Information disclosed that Altman’s decision was confirmed after a weekend of negotiations with the board of directors, company leaders, and investors.

Altman shared on X that his termination was a “strange experience” akin to “reading your own eulogy while you’re still alive.” He added that if he were to express his thoughts candidly, the OpenAI board should pursue him for the complete value of his shares.

In contrast to tech founders like Mark Zuckerberg, Altman lacked equity in OpenAI, making him susceptible to termination at any time, as reported by the news site Semafor earlier this year.

On Sunday, Altman posted an image on X featuring himself wearing an OpenAI guest badge, noting that it would be the “first and last time” he ever wore one of those badges.

Upon learning of Altman’s dismissal, three senior researchers also submitted their resignations to OpenAI.

Microsoft lays off 10 000 employees https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/19/microsoft-lays-off-10-000-employees/ https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/19/microsoft-lays-off-10-000-employees/#comments Thu, 19 Jan 2023 10:12:23 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=98769 ...]]> Microsoft plans to lay off 10,000 employees as part of broader cost-cutting measures, the company said in a securities filing Wednesday, becoming the latest technology company to cut staff due to growing economic uncertainty, CNN wrote on the subject.

Ahead of the announcement of the cuts at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company is not immune to the weaker global economy.

“No one can defy gravity, and gravity here is inflation-adjusted economic growth.”

he told WEF founder Klaus Schwab during a livestreamed discussion.

In a memo to staff on Wednesday, Nadella also referred to the changing demand for digital services over the years as well as looming recession fears.

“We live in times of significant change, and as I meet with clients and partners, a few things are clear. First, just as we saw customers accelerate their spending on digital services during the pandemic, we are now seeing them optimise their spending on digital services to do more with less.”,

he wrote.

As of June 30, 2022, Microsoft had approximately 221,000 full-time employees globally, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with about 122,000 of those employees based in the U.S.

Although the overall job market remains tight, layoffs in the technology sector are increasing at a staggering rate. According to a recent report by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, layoffs in the tech sector increased 649% in 2022 compared to the previous year, while layoffs in the economy as a whole increased by just 13% over the same period.

Microsoft will announce its second-quarter earnings on January 24. The cloud computing software company’s Azure business drove revenue growth in the three months to September as sales in its PC division declined slightly.

Even as Microsoft makes significant cuts, Nadella said the company will continue to invest in “strategic areas for our future” and pointed to advances in artificial intelligence as the “next big wave” of computing.

Satya Nadella Considers the Largest Investment in Microsoft History https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/13/satya-nadella-considers-the-largest-investment-in-microsoft-history/ Fri, 13 Jan 2023 09:00:16 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=98276 ...]]> Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is considering the company’s largest-ever investment in a startup, Bloomberg reports.

The goal of this idea is for Microsoft to gain an edge over Google in the race to embed advanced artificial intelligence tools in areas such as search and apps.

According to sources, it is discussing the possibility of investing up to $10 billion in OpenAI, creator of the artificial intelligence viral bot ChatGPT. The proposal under consideration calls for Microsoft to put up the money over several years, but the final terms could change.

According to a Semafor report, the deal Microsoft is discussing would give the company a 75% share of OpenAI’s profits until it recoups the money from its investment, after which it would acquire a 49% stake in OpenAI. Semafor said it is not known whether the deal has been finalized, but said documents sent to potential investors in recent weeks outlining its terms point to a target completion by the end of 2022.

Microsoft’s GitHub, too, uses OpenAI’s linguistic artificial intelligence to help software developers with a program called GitHub Copilot. Copilot offers code snippets that can then appear in the program, much like an autocomplete bot trained to speak Python or JavaScript. It’s very useful for the programming equivalent of manual labor – filling in pieces of code that are necessary but not particularly complex or creative.

Microsoft executives said the company plans to develop the Copilot technology for use in similar programs for other job categories, such as office work, video game design, architecture and computer security.

Tech Leaders with Hopes for GitHub Copilot https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/03/tech-leaders-with-hopes-for-github-copilot/ Tue, 03 Jan 2023 10:42:18 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=97502 ...]]> During the Leadership Summit, Satya Nadella, CEO at Microsoft shared in detail about the impact GitHub Copilot is having on the developer ecosystem, stating that 70% of apps will be built with no-code or low-code tools, Analytics India Magazine reported.

Satya Nadella talked about how Copilot can now translate between different coding languages. He also brought up the GitHub Copilot feature that allows to translate code snippets into English, noting the training use cases that this capability enables.

“One top AI developer says 80% of his code is written by Copilot. This is a real game changer as far as having Copilot. Take someone’s skills and really automate them so they can spend their time better.”

he said.

Autoencoding platforms have entered the mainstream since the release of GitHub Copilot last year. Capilot shows that developers really need a solution that will reduce the amount of code they have to write manually. The programming will continue to advance, spurred by innovation by tech giants and startups alike.

Satya Nadella also states that the best AI researchers are using Microsoft tools to create the next generation of intelligent software.

“Visual Studio Code is pretty much the number one tool chain for anybody who does anything related to software. GitHub is where all the innovation happens today. It’s the largest repository of open source development happening there, and of course everything that is happening in Power Apps”,

he stated.

Satya also said that Microsoft is at the forefront of empowering developers and there are a number of facts to prove it.

Sony shares have slumped in Tokyo market https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/19/sony-shares-have-slumped-in-tokyo-market/ Wed, 19 Jan 2022 14:21:59 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=79293 ...]]> After Microsoft announced its plans to buy Activision Blizzard, Sony’s shares fell off in Tokyo trade.

The deal will be an important step for Microsoft’s Xbox gaming brand in its battle against Sony’s PlayStation. The purchase of the “Call of Duty” maker comes as Microsoft is fiercely trying to expand its Game Pass subscription service. Microsoft’s chief executive Satya Nadella, said:

“We’re investing deeply in world-class content, community and the cloud to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first and makes gaming safe, inclusive and accessible to all.”

However, Sony’s PlayStation 5 is being recognized as the leader over Microsoft’s Xbox models. In the past few years, Sony made its network stronger and offered some exclusive hits such as its Spider-man franchise.

Also, the Japanese company is one of the very first companies in virtual reality. Not only that but this month Sony even revealed some more details about its next generation headset.

Now, Sony meets really strong competition in the gaming industry.
