Google Announced Some Improvements to Google Cast https://devstyler.io/blog/2024/01/15/google-announced-some-improvements-to-google-cast/ Mon, 15 Jan 2024 10:54:33 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=117543 ...]]> Google has announced some improvements to Google Cast, including Output Switcher, available through the Android system UI. This feature makes it easier to transfer and manage media between different devices and technical protocols.

With the release of Output Switcher 2.0 for Android U, enhancements include improved volume control, device categorization, and support for devices with custom protocols.

Google Cast makes it easier for users to watch their favorite short videos on Cast-enabled devices. To effectively integrate Google Cast into apps, Google has provided guidelines to improve the user experience.

One of these guidelines relates to the Google Cast icon, which should be displayed prominently on any screen with playable content. Google recommends that this location be in the top right corner. It is this visibility that helps users see the option without having to spend minutes searching.

The second guideline is related to automatic playback. Along with the standard casting feature, users can choose whether to enable or disable autoplay. When the autoplay feature is active, playback automatically advances to the next video without any action from the user, offering a seamless viewing experience. This feature responds to the growing trend for continuous, short-form streaming content.

In response to user feedback concerning the visibility of the cast icon, Google has implemented improvements. Users frequently assume that their Chromecast built-in devices are not detected when they don’t see this icon. To enhance user experience and streamline device discovery, Google has introduced the “Persistent cast icon.”

This new feature guarantees that the cast icon is consistently visible, offering users instant access and assistance in comprehending why a particular device might not be appearing. Furthermore, Google has fine-tuned the timing of device discovery. For a more in-depth understanding of these changes and their impact, refer to the details outlined in the Google Cast Developer Guide.

Key Programming Languages in FinTech https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/06/22/key-programming-languages-in-fintech/ Thu, 22 Jun 2023 09:23:49 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=108251 ...]]> The FinTech environment has always welcomed new technologies with open arms. Undoubtedly, software has become a major competitive advantage for FinTech companies due to the huge volume of transactions, low risk tolerance and demand for fast processing.

When selecting FinTech software, firms weigh a variety of factors including cost, scalability, potential for APIs, consistently high performance, compliance, security, and time to market. But the programming languages used most significantly influence these factors. Like anything else, programming languages have their advantages and disadvantages. Some of them improve performance, adaptability and security.

Today we’ve chosen to introduce you to key programming languages needed in the FinTech sector according to Analytics Insights.

Key Programming Languages in FinTech

Java
Being a well-known language with an extensive library of third-party components, Java is used in many Fintech systems because it facilitates the creation of complex Fintech software.

Python
Given that Python is among the most widely used programming languages, it is not surprising that it has had a dramatic impact on the Fintech sector. According to PyPI’s analysis of Google searches, Python is the most widely used programming language in the world.

Golang
Golang, commonly known as Go, is an open source programming language created by Google in 2009. It is quickly displacing other programming languages among fintech companies that need to launch soon and have a clear, scalable, and simple backend.

Ruby
Did you know that many startups in the digital finance sector use Ruby in combination with the Ruby on Rails framework for its productivity and ease of use? Some major reasons why developers prefer it are the security protections built into the framework and the simplicity of the language that saves time and money.

Scala
High-end distributed software systems used in financial products often process large amounts of data. Because it’s so productive and helps engineers shorten their source code, Scala is an excellent choice for processing them. There are at least two or three departures from Java. Additionally, the most popular Big Data frameworks that are vital to the FinTech sector have been developed using Scala.

Top 5 Ways to Improve Security https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/05/09/top-5-ways-to-improve-security/ Tue, 09 May 2023 09:30:49 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=105904 ...]]> Cyber threats are growing exponentially, both in volume and complexity. Many of these threats may go unidentified or may be detected too late for an organization to avoid a data breach or other associated risks.

The risk of threats is increasing, and one of the main reasons is the adoption of new digital technologies such as cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence and ML on a larger scale and at greater speed.

As this is an inevitable process that is part of the evolution of the industry, it is imperative that companies build a robust security strategy to identify, prevent and respond to the ever-evolving cyber threats. In today’s article, we’ll take you through some of the most secure ways you can improve your organization’s security, presented by Devops Digest.

Top 5 Ways to Improve Security

Performing an inventory audit
Complete visibility of your organization’s assets is fundamental to improving security. An inventory audit should include all on-premises, cloud and mobile assets, managed or unmanaged assets, applications and infrastructure, peripheral assets and core assets. It is also imperative to understand the business criticality of each asset.

Security assessment
The assessment provides a complete picture of your organization’s internal and external security posture. Through it, you’ll be able to understand security gaps across your organization and determine the next steps you need to take to improve your cybersecurity maturity level.

Choosing a cybersecurity framework
A cybersecurity framework helps organizations better understand their cybersecurity risks and protect their business. It is important to know that due to the fact that each industry has its own set of compliance and data protection needs, different frameworks are available in the market.

Educate your employees
It is very important that your employees share equal responsibility for protecting the organization from security threats. Cybersecurity awareness training programs would help employees understand the importance of cybersecurity, the potential consequences of a data breach, and their role in preventing attacks. They would also be able to recognise and respond effectively to cyber-attacks. By doing so, you can easily foster a strong security culture within your company, thereby improving your security posture.

Adapt
It would hardly surprise you if we told you that adaptation is the key to survival in this changing landscape of cyber threats. The truth is that no organization is immune to cyberattacks. Sooner or later every company, regardless of the nature and size of its business, will come face to face with this threat. To be well prepared for it, you need to regularly assess and optimize your security processes and controls and strengthen your security posture. Companies need to refine their incident response and business continuity plans to respond to changes in threat levels.

Apple Explores the Possibility of Launching a More Modern iPhone “Ultra” https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/02/06/apple-explores-the-possibility-of-launching-a-more-modern-iphone-ultra/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 08:37:51 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=100305 ...]]> Apple is exploring the possibility of releasing a more expensive iPhone “Ultra” over the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models, according to Mark Gurman, reports The Verge. The high-end device could appear as early as 2024 with the iPhone 16 line.

Last September, Gurman predicted that the “Ultra” model could replace the Pro Max brand with this year’s iPhone 15, but his latest theory suggests Apple wants to create a more powerful – and more expensive – tier of iPhone. That means the device could have an even higher price tag than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which starts at $1,099.

CEO Tim Cook did not rule out the possibility of a future iPhone price increase. Instead, he indicated that customers might want to pay more to get a better product.

“I think people are willing to shell out to get the best they can afford in this category,”

Cook said.

It’s not yet clear what features the “Ultra” device will have, but Gurman says it “will likely offer additional camera enhancements, a faster chip, and perhaps an even larger display.” It may also come with a design where the charging port is dropped in favor of wireless charging.

Last year Apple made Dynamic Island exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, and now Apple plans to make the tiers even more different with this year’s iPhone 15 launch.

According to rumors, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will now come with USB-C and may even use tactile volume and power buttons instead of physical ones. Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may be the only device to get a periscope lens with better optical zoom, which will further increase the difference between the different models.

Section with Persistent Volume Storage Support for Distributed Multi-Cloud Kubernetes Workloads https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/25/section-with-persistent-volume-storage-support-for-distributed-multi-cloud-kubernetes-workloads/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 07:48:28 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=99284 ...]]> Section announced support for persistent volume storage in its distributed, multi-cloud platform, enabling developers to rapidly deploy even the most complex Kubernetes workloads globally.

This enables organizations to easily optimize and scale service according to local demand, while directing traffic to the most appropriate endpoints for performance and availability at cloud service providers worldwide.

With the new release of Persistent Volumes, Kubernetes users can provide state-independent data storage across capsules and containers to support databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL, document or object stores, and more.

“Effectively orchestrating distributed applications and storage is devilishly complex. But not with Section. We’re giving organizations simple access to a global platform so they can quickly deploy and scale – even for complex environments that require Persistent Volumes – freeing up valuable development time and resources.”

said Stewart McGrath, Section’s CEO.

Developers deploy on Section’s multi-cloud, clusterless platform using Section’s web-based console or standard open-source tools (like Helm, YAML or kubectl), setting simple policy-based rules to automate global orchestration. While typical workloads can readily use ephemeral storage as needed, Persistent Volumes can now be created dynamically through a Persistent Volume Claim.

Section’s distributed cloud-native compute platform allows application developers to focus on business logic while enabling their software to behave as if it runs everywhere, is infinitely scalable, always available, maximally performant, completely compliant, and efficient with compute resources and cost.
