The theme of this group will be Open Source Artificial Intelligence.

“AI is rapidly changing the way we work and live, and open source collaboration is at the core of AI innovation,” Stormy Peters, vice president of communities at GitHub, wrote in a blog post. “We’re seeing developers across the globe use GitHub to innovate and share openly at every level of the AI stack, from training frameworks, to models, to responsible AI and evaluation tooling.

“But building a successful AI business in the open comes with its challenges. On top of the time and funding obstacles we’re already familiar with in open source, the heightened expenses and ethical, security, and legal considerations are daunting. We see these challenges as a risk to global innovation and are hoping to help”, he added.

The GitHub Accelerator will run for ten weeks, and the program includes group sessions, project work, and mentorship. Program participants will have 40 hours per week, of which about 5-10 hours are live training, workshops, and homework assignments.

In this round, 10 participants will be selected to receive $40,000 in project funding, free access to GitHub products, free Azure AI credits, and access to the general Slack channel.

Participants will gain access to GitHub staff for security reviews, engage in Q&A sessions with GitHub sponsors, community members, and leaders, and receive an introduction to Microsoft’s venture fund M12, including at least one hour of dedicated time with them.

At the culmination of the program, a virtual Demo Day will provide an opportunity for participants to showcase their progress to the community, including GitHub leadership and venture capitalists.

To be considered for acceptance into the cohort, GitHub suggests presenting a project with a clear open source license, well-defined governance strategy, commitment from core leaders for project growth, a plan for fund utilization, and a strong emphasis on AI, machine learning, and AI infrastructure. GitHub prioritizes projects with an active and expanding user base.

Chrome Now Locks Incognito Tabs in Android With Biometric Authentication https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/27/chrome-now-locks-incognito-tabs-in-android-with-biometric-authentication/ https://devstyler.io/blog/2023/01/27/chrome-now-locks-incognito-tabs-in-android-with-biometric-authentication/#comments Fri, 27 Jan 2023 11:08:04 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=99536 ...]]> Google is introducing a feature to Android that will add an extra layer of privacy when browsing websites in Incognito mode.

The tech giant has revealed that the ability to lock Incognito sessions in Chrome behind biometric authentication on mobile devices is currently making its way to Android users after debuting on iOS. When this feature is turned on, users will have to confirm their identity via facial or fingerprint authentication every time they return to the Incognito tab after exiting Chrome or switching to another app.

With online risks on the rise, Chrome’s “privacy by design” approach means users can complete an online purchase, get work done or pay a bill with a little more peace of mind.

Built-in features like Google Password Manager make logging in safe across all devices and help detect compromised passwords. Along with providing strong default protections, the company makes privacy controls easy to find, understand, and use in Chrome. While many of these features are widely known, Chrome includes many privacy settings and security features that may be new to most users.

Locked Incognito sessions first became available on Android in 2022 – more than a year after Google began testing them for iPhone and iPad – but as an experimental feature that must be enabled via a flag.

Based on 9to5Google’s experience using it on Android last year, this feature will show a gray screen with the Incognito logo in the center when you return to a tab protected by the privacy feature. You’ll then need to tap “Unlock Incognito” to open biometric authentication or choose to verify your identity with a PIN.

NVIDIA Debuts ReOpt, DeepMap and More During The GTC Keynote https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/11/09/nvidia-debuts-reopt-deepmap-and-more-during-the-gtc-keynote/ Tue, 09 Nov 2021 11:04:07 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=74357 ...]]> NVIDIA is having its fall 2021 GPU Technology Conference (GTC), which will include sessions on the latest in AI, accelerated computing, data science, graphics, robotics, self-driving cars, and more. During today’s GTC keynote, the CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang explored the most transformative technologies of our time.

Huang presented a range of new NVIDIA products and initiatives, spanning VR, enterprise AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, advances in automotive, and much more.

Holo Skin is NVIDIA’s full-stack open platform for next-generation software to find instruments. He commented:

“Holo Skin applications can be deployed fully in instrument in the hospitals’ data centers, or a mixture of both. This allows companies to develop applications that require more computing than is in the device. Or to upgrade the installed base of devices, years after deployment. Holo Skin is a full-stack open platform for next-generation software to find instruments. Holo Skin is our third robotics platform.”

Besides Holo Skin, NVIDIA is also developing Mapping for autonomous driving. The CEO said:

“Mapping is a credible pillar of driving. It is the collective memory of the fleet and can be considered another sensor. A couple of months ago, we welcomed DeepMap to our company. DeepMap is an expert in mapping for autonomous driving.”

He announced ReOpt – a software package combining local search heuristics algorithms and the so-called metaheuristics to optimize vehicle route planning and distribution. ReOpt taps algorithms, providing customers with road conditions, traffic, as well as route metrics to reduce fuel cost, carbon emissions, and miles.

A variety of other topics were raised during today’s keynote. The conference is being hosted between 8-11 November. Topics, such as 3D Design, collaboration, and simulation, game development, Internet of Things (IoT), 5g, data science, and many more will be raised.
