There are so many technologies which have already changed our lives – most of them made it for good. Here are 5 technologies which made our life easier:

Smartphones

One of the biggest innovations nowadays are the smartphones – the gadgets which make it possible for us to communicate with each other more easily.

Those devices are full of applications which give us an opportunity to organize our lives and work tasks. We can even stop for a moment and play our favourite game, we can listen to music, take photos as much as we want, or even watch a movie. All the things we like and love are brought together in these small gadgets.

Social Media

We live in a society where it’s really important to be in touch with the world around us – it’s impossible to stop our hunger for news, likes, shares, etc. Social media is giving us the opportunity to explore new different worlds every day, and there is no doubt that it has a strong impact on us.

GPS

Actually, it’s full name is Global Positioning System and it was first launched in 1978.

Imagine you in the middle of nowhere having no idea where you’re at and how to get to the place you wanted to visit. Sometimes the old-fashioned way with the map is not the wisest option. Fortunately, you can just turn your GPS on and let it recognize your location in order to help you find the right way which makes it a significant innovation.

NFC

This technology is really convenient because it lets us pay through our smartphones. Putting your phone near the POS terminal is enough for you to be able to pay for your goods. Of course, just like every other thing, this also hides some tricks behind itself, so you have to be careful when using it. Sometimes convenience turns out to be inconvenient.

Bluetooth

Have you ever thought about the time when you really needed to see the last photos you took with your family or best friends but you didn’t have the chance to take a look at them?

Back then, social media was just for chatting with friends and it was not as developed as it is today. The only way you could receive those photos was only via Bluetooth, keeping your phones as close as they could be in order to transfer the files you want as fast as possible.

Nowadays Bluetooth is much more than that – a technology which is being used in devices such as headsets, headphones, keyboards, mouses, etc.

Sony shares have slumped in Tokyo market https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/19/sony-shares-have-slumped-in-tokyo-market/ Wed, 19 Jan 2022 14:21:59 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=79293 ...]]> After Microsoft announced its plans to buy Activision Blizzard, Sony’s shares fell off in Tokyo trade.

The deal will be an important step for Microsoft’s Xbox gaming brand in its battle against Sony’s PlayStation. The purchase of the “Call of Duty” maker comes as Microsoft is fiercely trying to expand its Game Pass subscription service. Microsoft’s chief executive Satya Nadella, said:

“We’re investing deeply in world-class content, community and the cloud to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first and makes gaming safe, inclusive and accessible to all.”

However, Sony’s PlayStation 5 is being recognized as the leader over Microsoft’s Xbox models. In the past few years, Sony made its network stronger and offered some exclusive hits such as its Spider-man franchise.

Also, the Japanese company is one of the very first companies in virtual reality. Not only that but this month Sony even revealed some more details about its next generation headset.

Now, Sony meets really strong competition in the gaming industry.

Disney Is About To Project 3-D Images  https://devstyler.io/blog/2022/01/10/disney-is-about-to-project-3-d-images/ Mon, 10 Jan 2022 14:53:08 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=78533 ...]]> The U.S. Patent Office gave a permission to Walt Disney Co. for projecting moving 3-D images on real-world objects whose aim is to interact with the visitors of the team park.

However, 3-D projectors are already used by The Burbank for casting moving images on sprays of water in the light shows “World of Color” and “Fantasmic” in Disney California Adventureland Disneyland.

The technology will be no available for a large audience. It will be geared for a small group of people around the parks. It will project images individually for them on objects, buildings and walls placed nearby the visitors. Special gadgets such as goggles or headset will not be necessary for seeing those images.

According to the patent, the secret of this technology is hiding behind peoples’ smart devices such as their smartphones. Their tracking information will be transferred to a computer and will be connected to devices located all over the park. Soon, after locating the visitors, the simulator will project an Image of a Disney character in front of the guests which will give the opportunity for people to even hear their voices. A spokesperson from Disney said:

“We are excited about the possibilities related to this type of technology.”

They also added that no current plans for introducing this technology into an upcoming experience are composed yet.

Metа is expanding its Horizon Worlds https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/12/10/meta-is-expanding-its-horizon-worlds/ Fri, 10 Dec 2021 13:37:54 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=76421 ...]]> All users in the US and Canada now will be given a chance to experience Meta’s new platform – Horizon Worlds VR. The news was announced by the company and it will serve as a key introduction for many new Meta users. Meta explained:

“Horizon Worlds is a social VR experience where you can create and explore together. Since launching as an invite-only beta last year, we’ve been amazed by the community that’s begun to form and inspired by the unique experiences they’ve built.”

What actually is Horizon Worlds? It’s kind of like the main city in The Lego Movie. This is a place where users are free to build whatever they like. The social VR expereince is full of different kinds of applications, options and features, which allow users to meet friends, play games together, and many more.

Since the sales of Quest 2 headsets became three times higher than previous VR devices, the expansion of access to Horizon Worlds’s arrival comes at the right time. In November, Qualcomm stated that Meta had already sold 10 million Quest 2 systems. According to the company, Meta hasn’t provided any official sales figures, and at that moment, more and more people are interested in VR, probably because of the metaverse-inspired name change.

It is expected that there will be many more Quest 2 units. All these users should be provided irresistible experiences, and perfect VR tools, so Meta needs to give its best in order to satisfy its users’ metaverse living through.

AR is set to fulfill a major part in the digital engagement’s next stage. However, VR has the true vision of a fully immersive metaverse, which makes anything possible for its users – something that Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg tried to stand out two months ago when he announced that Facebook Connect will change its name to “Meta”.

If you would like to experience this exciting environment, you can use this VR headset which is one of the reasons Horizon Worlds is so significant, and why Meta is enthusiastic to get it out there.

Undoubtedly, Horizon Worlds may be the next evolution of social media interaction, as everything is developing so fast, especially in the tech world.

Apple Headset could have ‘Interchangeable lenses’ for VR and AR Experiences https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/12/01/apple-headset-could-have-interchangeable-lenses-for-vr-and-ar-experiences/ Wed, 01 Dec 2021 14:33:55 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=75936 ...]]> Rumors have been proven that Apple is developing a mixed reality headset and it seems like the official announcement may come sometime in 2022.

The details come from the newsletter Power On by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. He noted:

“Apple’s first headset will have a complex, expensive-to-build design, complete with interchangeable lenses. The company will likely need to work with governments globally on possible prescription lenses and partner with a bevy of manufacturers on complex technologies that neither side has shipped before.”

Gurman has also added that the Apple headset will have both AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) capabilities, which is where these interchangeable lenses could come into play. That means it could be used for immersive VR applications and mixed reality experiences where the digital elements interact with the real world in some way.

Mark Gurman expects the introduction of this headset to be a major announcement that could rival that of the original Apple Watch.

“Apple will want to have such a breakthrough new category in public view before exposing it to leak risks when it gets into the hands of more Apple employees and partners who will need to contribute to it before release.”

The Apple Watch was announced over 200 days before its official release. That means we could see a 2022 announcement followed by a 2023 product launch for the mixed reality headset.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has talked about augmented reality and mixed reality, claiming that they are critically important to the future of the company. It could even end up being the final new product released on his CEO position before retiring.

The timing of a launch in 2023 was suggested earlier this year by an Apple analyst according to who, it would run a Mac-level processor and would not need an iPhone to operate, not unlike the Oculus Quest 2.

Oculus Quest 2 update introduces Air Link feature and 120Hz mode https://devstyler.io/blog/2021/04/15/oculus-quest-2-update-introduces-air-link-feature-and-120hz-mode/ Thu, 15 Apr 2021 14:03:16 +0000 https://devstyler.io/?p=48220 ...]]> Now the new notable feature called Air Link is available in Experimental mode. It allows users to stream games or apps wirelessly on their desktop PC. Quest 2 headset and your PC must be running v28 software in order for Air Link to work. Having a secure 5Ghz network or an AC or AX router is required.

Oculus has been working on their new streaming technology named Oculus Air Link for gamers wanting to use Link wirelessly.

However, if you connect your Quest 2 via Link cable the best consistent experience can still be provided. Using the Link cable allows users to charge the headset and also experience the highest-fidelity visuals. Air Link’s performance and compatibility will be improved again and again by the company.

There are also updates on Infinite Office introduced by Oculus. It’s a collection of new features built into Oculus Home. Oculus is also introducing physical surface integration and the ability to track your physical keyboard.

Last but not least the v28 software update introduces 120Hz support on the Quest 2, which is up from the current 90Hz. The system software of The Quest 2 will remain 90HZ.

The v28 software update is expected to roll out gradually, so it may not be introduced right away.
