The experience of using WhatsApp on a PC is not as satisfying as all the users wish it would be. Microsoft Store gives us an opportunity to download applications which give a comfortable and pleasant experience to all the users. When it comes to WhatsApp, however, it is more based on its web version. The app uses Electron in order to transform web technologies into a more traditional app format but it gives a main performance which is not what users want. There is a new version of WhatsApp that seems to be based on the Universal Windows Platform which uses XAML UI language in order to become perfectly fitting for the Windows apps.

The new version of WhatsApp will be available for the last two generations of Windows OS (11 and 10) even though it seems like it was designed for the previous version of the operating system when you look at the way the user interface looks. The search box and chat bubbles, for example, are components which still have sharp corners – a detail that Windows 11 removed.

When it comes to messaging, the new app seems to support voice and video calls, based on the images which are shared by Aggiornamenti Lumia. In addition –  one of the new features is the opportunity of drawing, which allows Windows Ink enthusiasts to sketch up an image and share it all within WhatsApp itself. Not only that but even when the app isn’t running, the user will still receive notifications.

In conclusion we need to mention that the new app seems to be full of settings that are also available in the mobile apps such as privacy settings which allow you to manage who can see when you are online or not, all your chats, notifications and storage as well as who can see your profile picture and who cannot.

The UWP version was teased for the first time over two years ago by WABetaInfo – it is a popular source for WhatsApp leaks. It took some time for the app to originate but we still don’t know when the application’s new version will be available.
