Apple has unveiled two new MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips that will go on sale next week.

The M2 Pro and M2 Max models feature the longest battery life of any Mac device. Apple noted that the new laptops, which come in 14- and 16-inch sizes, have the ability to handle demanding tasks like effects rendering, which will be up to six times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro, and color grading, which will be up to twice as fast.

“MacBook Pro with Apple silicon has been a game changer, empowering pros to push the limits of their workflows while on the go and do things they never thought possible on a laptop”

said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“Today the MacBook Pro gets even better. With faster performance, enhanced connectivity, and the longest battery life ever in a Mac, along with the best display in a laptop, there’s simply nothing else like it”

he continued.

M2 Pro and M2 Max enable the transformation of professional workflows across a wide range of disciplines, from art to science to application development. Users looking to upgrade from Intel-based Mac models will experience even more dramatic improvements in performance, battery life, connectivity and overall productivity. MacBook Pro also retains performance whether users are plugged in or running on battery power.

The M2 Pro also features a “next-generation GPU” that can provide enhanced graphics performance. It is equipped with a neural engine that is about 40% faster than other processors, marking improvements in machine learning tasks such as image processing and video analysis.

MacBook Pro M2 Max enhances effects rendering in Cinema 4D. Apple claims this development will be up to 30% faster than the previous generation. Similarly, the MacBook Pro with M2 Max will offer color grading in DaVinci Resolve, up to 30% faster than the previous generation.

More features and details about M2 Pro and M2 Max can be found on Apple’s official blog.
