GitHub and Microsoft have announced the general availability of the Copilot Studio extension for Visual Studio Code, enabling developers to build and manage AI agents directly inside their IDE. According to the Microsoft Copilot Blog, the extension allows teams to design, test, and iterate Copilot Studio agents without leaving VS Code, integrating agent logic more tightly into the software development lifecycle.

The release reflects a broader shift toward agentic AI, where developers don’t just consume AI assistance but actively build autonomous workflows into their applications. By embedding agent creation into a familiar development environment, Microsoft aims to lower the barrier to experimenting with AI-driven automation while keeping developers in control of logic, testing, and deployment.
